Early morning listening comprised today's classical piece, Schoenberg's "Verklaerte Nacht" - the string quintet version though which is the original - the later string orchestra version is more popular these days and more often recorded but I much prefer this..

...followed by previously unlistened to tracks from across the last couple of years...

The views today...

...were mainly of temporary homes for box sets...

Yesterday's random LP was also played this morning - Alice Cooper's first live LP - a big disappointment at the time but one which I've, of course, come to love over the years...

Recorded, probably fittingly, given the state of his career at the time, in Las Vegas...

It was a Xmas present to me in 1977...

On Anne's arising, it was eggs for breakfast...

...followed by today's random LP...

I originally had this bootleg as a cassette but, at some point, picked up the LP...

An excellent radio broadcast from 1976, on the "Young & Rich" tour...

The only downside is that it excludes "White Punks on Dope"...

In the early afternoon, the postie brought a couple of items...

This was unexpected as I'd ordered a disc of string quartets...

Oh well - I got my money back, it's on its way back and I, of course, ripped it - it's actually pretty funkily good...

And this also arrived - an excellently tuneless disc of experimental classical music on one of my favourite labels...

Meanwhile, Anne had baked surprise scones...

Despite the plethora of which over the last few weeks, I am managing to maintain my new shape...

In other news, Anne finished her latest painting - and very good it is too...

It's certainly a contender for the walls of Crispycat Towers...

In the early evening, out to visit my mum, who finally got home today, after 14 weeks - 98 days - in hospital...

It was a big thumbs up from the auld yin - happy to be back in her own home but continuing with the serial watching of "Midsummer Murders" and the like...

Back home, I noted Anne's strawberry plant is continuing to come up with the goods...

On Facebook, an excellent pic of Ali and Julie just prior to the birth of young Harris the other day...

...as I listened to the first pass of the collection of tracks for this week's podcast...

Serious Mr Quartet...

Also this evening (and lunchtime) we finished off "The Level", hoping there might be a second series but, only after watching it and looking it up, did we realise it's been languishing on our Tivo Box for nearly 4 years!

And there is no second series...

Oh well (again)...

Lights out just after midnight...

Highlight of the Day : Mum home at last...
