Ok it was definitely Wednesday today...
Ok it was definitely Wednesday today...
Some bathroom shots...
Before getting the day off to a good start with Richard Strauss's "Also Sprach Zarathustra" - the whole 32 minute thing though, not just the opening from "2001"...
Today, following yesterday's successes, I finally tracked down another seven long lost titles from the old LP collection (plus last night's late acquisition from Buddy Miles)...
I was pleased...
Record of the day, following on from playing yesterday's random choice by The Tubes, a day late, was "The Bears", by The Bears...
The band features Adrian Belew...
...which is the reason I have this LP...
...and its follow up, which will, no doubt, also be randomly chosen at some point in the coming months...
An article on The Wire's website, bemoaning the lack of non-white contributers to weird left field music, led me to download a plethora of releases by Kenyan soundscaper, field recordist and looper, Joseph Kamaru aka KMRU...
Most of these are one track singles - I didn't go that mad...
...but here's a good wee film about how he works...
(This film then led me tomorrow, to download a load of stuff by another performer - but that's for tomorrow)...
Lovely spag bog for tea...
...followed by a visit from a wee friend...
...who was, of course, only here for one thing...
Cheeky boy...
Later on, some upstairs listening in the back room - Eric Dolphy, London Sinfonietta...
...and...
...Grand Funk...
...before falling asleep downstairs to Pet Shop Boys at Hyde Park...
To bed early doors, with ELO...
Highlight of the Day : New music from Kenya...
