Out and down the hill, the new album having been released into the wild...

And garnering good initial reactions...

The view from the office later on...

...as I made my way for a rare trip all the way up to Morningside and trawled the many charity shops up there...

This for £2 - originally bought in the summer of 1990 and subsequently sold but I have it again, joining the replaced this year Nos I and III in the collection...

Some dancy music, for £1...

This, which it turns out I already had as a download, also for £1...

Some blues for £1.50...

Oxfam's prices are always a bit higher so, for £3.99, this CD/DVD set by Efterklang added to my growing Efterklang collection - again I already had this as a download but nice to have the actual thing...

Justified...

A tasty disc of obscure German composers of the 1700s - a fave period of mine...

£2.99...

And, final find, a 5CD box of Mahavishnu Orchestra for just £2.50...

I thought I had all these albums already...

But, on the bus back, checking over the purchases, I realised this has a whole disc of previously unreleased concert recordings from 1973...

Tasty in the extreme...

And, on Amazon, all of the above would have set me back around £300...

Mainly because the Berlin disc was priced at £156...

Hmmm...

Tasty tea from the EP was followed by some ripping and listening and compiling of tomorrow's podcast...

Then, a drive to the other side of Edinburgh to buy some toys for Grand-nephews for their Xmas...

Back home around 9 and "Have I Got News For You" and something else I've already forgotten 8 hours later, entertained...

Not to worry...

At 11, recorded and edited the links for the podcast while Anne painted...

To bed with the podcast mock up on the cans...

Not really up early enough to get anything done apart from ensuring pics here are up to date and ready for text to be added at the weekend...

The new album is now ready to go tomorrow morning...

The view from the office this morning...

At lunchtme, an almost fruitless trip up to Tollcross but found this for £1.50 in the Cancer Research shop...

Delightful, as I like to say...

This evening, an annual party which I organise and so, for which, I must remain compos mentis...

Here when things were still fairly civilised, chums Lindsay, Gaz, Wenders, Pam and Fiona...

Here, some of the debris...

Apparently, the last stragglers left at 4:45 - I, having spent the night on Diet Coke, Diet Irn Bru and Diet Sprite, had bailed around 10 - it was supposed to have ended at 8...

Apparently, chum Gaz woke up on the floor around 5:45, alone apart from the cleaner hoovering around him...

Oh dear...

A good night then...

A bit of a cock up on the way home meant I missed my bus - two of them seen leaving the stop just as I arrived....

...and so, I had to walk up the hill and missed Anne before she headed out to watch Hearts merely draw with Livingston...

The left behind tea in the oven of salmon, potatoes and broccoli was, however, tasty...

Moped about, watched a documentary on David Bowie's lack of success in the 60's and early 70's (despite a top 5 single), how it led to the ultimate breakthrough of Ziggy Stardust and how that alter ego was, in hindsight, quite promptly, knocked on the head...

Frustratingly, the "tape" ran out before the end...

Oh well...

Some TV watched on Anne's return - she didn't seem that bothered that her team are currently so crap...

That's football...

In the Whatsapp today, a pic from keyboardist Paul, of me in, I think, 1978 or 1979 with my then group Rough Cut...

Hoping to get back to this shape at some point...

...the beard and hair, however, well that's another matter entirely...

At lunchtime, the weekly trip along to Dalry and some "bargains" found...

This from Canadians Wintersleep - which I have as a download but this CD has two extra tracks and is very good indeed so worth it for just 50p at the Cats Protection League shop...

...as was this from getting-to-quite-like them after everybody else has for ages, Foo Fighters...

...and to make it up to three, this, which, disappointingly, turns out to be some kind of yeehaw country music...

Not to worry...

Next door at St Columba's Hospice, these two were just 20p each...

Back home this evening, my Quorn and carrot surprise did not exactly surprise but was good nonetheless...

I was cooking for one as Anne had been unwell all day...

Despite her illness, we managed 100 on "University Challenge"...

Late on, the uploading of the new album, to be released on Friday, continued...

It takes ages...

Up and working on putting together versions of the backing tracks for the proposed CBQ live set to be run through later today...

Followed by Duck Eggs, tomato and coriander on toast...

No breakfast for the EP though - rather badly under the weather today due to a spout of through the night and continuing vomiting...

Hopefully just a bug...

Finalising and printing the song sheets for today...

Around 12:30, packed and out...

...and over to Roslin for a trio session...

With guitarist Stu...

...and drummer Johnny...

Here a trio of pics by photographer Stu - a man of many talents...

Some quick learning and run-throughs of, initially, the first 8 of the 12 songs...

A break for Moira's coffee and walnut cake...

...accompanied by young Chloe...

Then, back to work, learning the last four songs and, then, a final "live" no stops run through of "the set"...

Swift and satisfactory work by the boys...

In all, we recorded around 3 hours of the session, which, tonight, distilled down to two 40 minute versions of "the set"...

A 25 minute drive to Anne's mum's, Anne absent and, by text accounts, still not well...

A tasty tea of steak pie with Anne's mum, Jane, Bob and Kitty...

Agreed to adopt Kitty...

Back home to an ill Anne watching Strictly's results show...

She retired around 10:20 while I edited today's recordings, hitting the sack around 11:30, weekend over...

Highlight of the Day : The new CBQ...
