Again, much "old" music today...

Hours and hours were spent on trying to sort iTunes...

I also wiped my phone of music and added back the earliest stuff from the iTunes era...

The entire phone was filled with fewer items than were actually added back on that first day...

I'm pretty sure I was up and working well before 8:30...

These were the skies...

...and all day was spent adding back artwork to 2013 additions to the library - ignoring anything requiring down re the subsequent 9 years...

Post lunch, back to work...

Midafternoon, the end of the tart...

Listened back to the new "Disquietmusik" as, late afternoon I uploaded all 7.5 hours of it to Bandcamp for Friday's release...

In the evening, we watched Argentina beat Poland 2-0 and unlucky Mexico go out, despite beating Saudi Arabia, almost because they had received more yellow cards than Poland but, finally, because, against the run of play, Saudi Arabia managed a goal allowing Poland to slip through...

Whilst watching, I chanced across a Gary Husband album which featured Allan Holdsworth, which sent me down a late-night Allan Holdsworth rabbit hole, from which I emerged with six live albums...

Yowsah!

Also added some rogue tracks from a drive which had hitherto remained unfound by the system...

As I would find out tomorrow morning, this was an error...

However, it would be an error which eventually led to a solution...

Anyway, lights out with Mr H in the cans...

Highlight of the Day: Old music...

Morning Tuesday morning...

Ideas running round my brain forced me to rise super early...

Work was being, and would continue to be, done...

Later, Xmas shopping for nephews etc etc...

Possible visit to my mum...

She does not need any more biscuits right now...

It was all go...

Throughout the day, it was weird how the speed of the internet changed...

These were taken within minutes of each other...

...and not one of them is up to the expected rate of around 32 download and 8 upload...

Anyway, post breakfast out for toys and books for small boys...

I sent this to niece Kitty re the hand slapping game we used to play...

A visit to my mum's on the way home - another nosebleed in the night but the doctor would shortly be visiting...

Later a call would advise via the doc that the bleeds are the result of an infection - aspirin stopped, anti-bios and steroids started...

Home to more work...

Better speeds...

Mostly trying to locate "missing files" which are, of course, not missing, merely not being pointed at correctly...

Fang popped by...

...and Anne's artwork progressed again...

Lunch...

...and, later this afternoon, an apple tart from Annie, thanks to Lynn's apple donation...

Much of today was also spent reinstating missing artwork, going through the files and listening to loads of stuff not heard for a long while - necessarily as, everything which was on the old C Drive cannot yet be played so I was restricted to stuff which was added to iTunes at outset, back in Septemeber 2013...

Which was, actually, very enjoyable indeed...

In all, of around 288,500 tracks in iTunes, only 20,134 were accessible today (2,100 LPs out of 19,450)...

But these beauties were all available...

Listening to parts of the four magnificent experiments in the box, I got to thinking that, even though it wasn’t actually King Crimson, this was the last truly “great” period of the band...

IMHO of course...

More speed - or rather, not speed...

...and then...

Weird...

Possible accidental album cover, re putting my phone on a window ledge...

Tasty prawn-based pasta for tea...

...followed by more tart...

In the football, England gave Wales a drubbing 3-0 to go through, joined, deservedly, by the Americans...

Netherlands await the USA and Senegal, England...

More work before bed...

Lights out..

Highlight of the Day: Anne's apple tart and her prawn pasta - certainly not the amount of missing music...

Up early and it seems, as the days go on, the system might just be getting slightly better...

I downloaded iTunes today and set it up....

This, however, wasn't so good...

Oh well...

An inordinate amount of time spent mucking about before Anne arose...

The view from the office this morning...

Just before breakfast, Fang arrived...

...and settled down...

This from iTunes was slightly better...

...but, at present, 17,318 albums are missing out of 19,441 (260,159 tracks out of 288,463)...

So, that's 90% of my collection currently unplayable in iTunes...

Another call this morning from my mum - her third early morning nosebleed in three days...

With Anne away shopping with her mum, there was nothing I could do...

Mum's GP was also shut all day today - apparently because they were open on the day of the Queen's funeral...

Now, instead of having an arbitrary one-day closure today, why didn't they just add a day to everyone's annual leave, so that the consequences could have been staggered to allow them to remain open?

Idiots!

And so, to recording this year's "Disquietmusik" session, the sixth release since 2017...

The set up...

Seven pieces recorded in, respectively, E, A, B, C, D, F and G...

The end of the session...

Then, to choosing titles...

As with all previous editions, this was done via a random number generator being applied to an art book...

Ten picks which were suggested by chance were rejected, either (a) as I disliked them or (b) because they were deemed already too well known...

But, eventually I had a satisfactory seven...

Then, to the treatment of the tracks, which involves four copies of the WAV recorded being placed slightly out of synch to create the tracks for the LP...

Then, the bonus tracks - three alternative versions (which I usually find to be even better than the original LP), reversed, 16 RPM and 16 RPM Reversed...

And, Bob's your uncle, here is the finished article...

...which will be out on Friday...

Work too on Bartok, creating two new clean mixes without the filed recordings and shortwave radio - taking it back to the "it's not music" (c) The Executive Producer statement of last week - but now with both string quartet and piano elements, rather than just the former...

And, for the record, here are the seven chosen artworks which are used as titled for the new Disquiet tracks...

While listening back, I tidied my wardrobe...

I am nothing if not almost entirely monochromatic...

With Anne out at Pilates, more listening back and familiarising myself with what I'd done - the guitarscapes of Disquietmusik are, of course, entirely improvised...

I was also on Baked Potato duty...

Those followed Anne's return, as did "University Challenge", on which we managed our best score of the series, hitting 170...

Further downstairs listening back on the phones, this time to a proposed collaboration with Edward Spark for 2023, accompanied "Coronation St"...

Eventually, of course, I fell asleep...

Oh well...

Lights out...
