Just three pictures on what was a long day..

First, working on Capital Models stuff pre our rehearsal today, as someone can't make tomorrow - before heading over to pick Paul up around 9:15 and out to Roslin...

We started around 10:45 and ended after 2, with a break..

for banana and chocolate cake, freshly baked by Moira as we played...

I mucked about with five songs not in our repertoire while the rest of the guys set up and chatted, before we got started...

In all we covered 30 songs today - the first session, I juts went round the guys and got them to choose a song to play, second session were tracks from the setlists we haven't played too often...

Rehearsal over, to my mum's house quickly to pick up a couple of things re her bank accounts and then on to the hospital...

She was very confused - suffering from delirium due to chest and urinary infections...

Not the best...

Finally home around 5 o'clock -  a long day...

Queen of the South v Montrose was on the telly (Hearts had already been pumped 5-0 in Glasgow by Scotland's newest club)...

Wine and bought on the way home prawns based pasta sustained...

Queens went ahead...

On the stroke of half time, one of their defenders saved a certain goal with his arm but neither the ref nor the linesman noticed and so a penalty and sending off were avoided...

However, Montrose equalised midway through the second half with a top notch free kick and then did receive a penalty award, scored, and another a couple of minutes later, also scored...

A consolation goal for QoS but a 3-2 loss at home...

Very disappointing...

Some telly later on, no doubt "Loudermilk" and "Leverage"...

Left the session editing till tomorrow...

Highlight of the Day : Rehearsing...

New music Friday yet again...

Some nice things partaken of, digitally of course...

Part of our pension planning...

With Anne off to Zumba, I was off out, to the funeral of old chum/client, Alan Berry - just a couple of years older than me...

To the bus stop...

...and soundtracked by the new mix of  Gentle Giant LP I bought on its release back in 1977...

Excellent - this was the first Gentle Giant LP I bought on release - prior to that I was always playing catch up...

Also out today, a nice 7 minute piece by Max Richter with help from Sparks - that was unexpected...

Off the bus at the other end in plenty time, so popped into the Cancer Research shop and picked up this hitherto unknown to me band's rocking debut for £1...

To the crematorium...

...and met up with a few well-kent faces , as they say...

Ex colleagues Kris & Yuill - with wife Debbie, Julie & Guido Crolla, Kenny Dyer, George Brewster, Steve Collins...

A very good eulogy from Alan's daughter - telling the story of a life very well lived indeed...

None of my erstwhile chums was going along to the "afterparty", so I walked back into town...

...ending up taking a bus up to the University district for a mooch around...

In the middle here is the bar where...

...in October 1994, I had a fortnightly residency which was cancelled after precisely two dates - the first was packed, while the second performance, which led to the cancellation, was made to an empty room...

Yep, an audience of absolutely no-one (except the bar staff)...

Maybe I should have played covers rather than my own electronic based noodlings...

These very same venue-clearing songs will be being re-released at some point this year..

Another bus back down to Princess St, past the museum...

...and into HMV, spotting this poster - it's what I'd like the band to do re Bowie/Eno/Velvets/Roxy...

Anyway...

A final bus home...

I noted in my diary that it was exactly 50 years ago today that I discovered Yes - purchasing the single (which plays at 33 1/3rd) of "And You And I"/"Roundabout", along with four other records, for "just" 50p each...

Sounds fine but £2.50 in February 1974 is £36.65 in today’s money!

I was 14 and spending nearly £40 on 5 singles?

Come. On.

Anyway, tonight I dug them all out and gave both sides of each a satisfying spin, saving Yes till last...

The just released Bowie single, “Rebel Rebel”/"Holy Holy"...

Mott the Hoople's ”All the Young Dudes”/"One of the Boys", an import...

Wings' “Mary Had a Little Lamb”/"Little Woman Love" (definitely a repurchase as I had this when it was in the charts back in 1972)...

...and "Jet"/"Let Me Roll It"; and the aforementioned Yes single - which I probably only bought cos I saw there was 18 minutes of music on it!

I will see them live in, I think, June...

Tasty tea from Anne...

...and continued "Loudermilk" and "Leverage" watching...

Nephew Craig's TV show, without nephew Craig also watched pre sack-hitting...

Highlight of the Day: Spinning 50 year old singles...

Up late today...

Scenes...

Post breakfast, out and down the hill...

To the bank - trying to sort out taking over my mum's bank accounts via a PoA - it's taking an intolerable amount of time - just lucky there's nothing pressing needing to be done - i.e. best to get it sorted now...

Done...

Too early though yet for lunch so a wander around GuitarGuitar - Anne was quite interested...

Then to the wee record shop - Anne was not quite as interested...

Ended up buying these four for £10...

I have a download of this...

I have a download of this...

I already have this on CD but, crucially, without the back cover...

I am unlikely ever to delve into much of this as it's just too "early" for me...

And so, a good example of what having an addiction can mean...

To the Torfin for lunch...

Drinks enjoyed...

Goats Cheese / Haggis Parcels enjoyed...

Chicken Fajita Wrap Enjoyed...

Club Sandwich enjoyed...

Back up the hill...

Advised by Edward Spark that someone is impersonating me on the "X"...

Despite this, "X" feels it doesn't have to do anything about it...

Just one of the reasons why "X" is a pile of shite...

This evening, the moon was out early...

...and we continued to watch both "Loudermilk" and "Leverage"...

Also, as per the playlist for today, I enjoyed creating four playlists of mixtures of tracks by David Bowie, Brian Eno, Lou & The Velvets and Roxy & Ferry which we would not be playing, to play between our sets if we ever manage to play the gig I envisage...

Highlight of the Day : Lunch with Anne...
