First thing, first task, finish off yesterday's ripping...
In the dark...
At the same time, writing the last three days of this up - I had prepped the playlists and pictures so just the text to add...
Still an annoying task though, when I miss days...
Discipline required...
I lack discipline...
Coffee time...
Back to work...
After breakfast and adding new stuff from the last couple of days to the phone, out and over to Loanhead...
Sorting and chucking and prepping once again...
Things found amongst Pam's stuff...
Tubes, Capital Models and Pure Bears badges...
A poster and set lists for gigs in the Spring of 1979...
Pam bootlegged the Cross Keys gig - the cassette is in the attic somewhere...
Pure Bears...
Rough Cut...
No doubt, when I go, said cassette (and these items) will be binned, unceremoniously...
So it goes...
A bag from The Other Record Shop, with a message written on it...
Inside, souvenirs from The Tubes at the Edinburgh Odeon, 12 May 1979...
Chum Deirdre was the person chosen from the audience to be the contestant in "What Do You Want From Life?"
Souvenirs comprise:-
Part of Prairie Prince's drum stick, a Coke can, a Dairy Milk and a wee box containing the concert ticket, one of Fee Waybill's wrist sweat bands, pieces of silver foil from his Quay Lewd costume, bubble gum, cigarettes etc…
I think the drum stick has been in the Coke can since 1979...
Negatives of pictures taken on the night...
Reversed...
Fee crushed by a giant cigarette on "Smoke (La Vie en Fumer)"...
...and returning unscathed...
...and Fee with Dee...
Meanwhile, stuff being either chucked or taken by Sheila and Andrew...
Our old games...
The family's Xmas Tree Log - it was used to hold trees from my mum's childhood (apparently) and certainly remembered from our own...
Into the bin it went...
So it goes...
Mum's bed and two Ottomans ready to be taken away by the council in January...
Mattresses, living room chair, small cupboard and TV table - likewise...
Single bed, likewise...
So it goes...
Two dismantled chests of drawers/dressing tables and a Hi Fi unit, to be collected next Friday by FourSquare...
So it goes...
A few items for auction consideration and, if rejected, charity shops/the bin...
So it goes...
Stuff for me to go through - and that will be that...
Left to right:-
Mum's old photos, docs etc...
Pam's music related paraphernalia...
Vintage books, prizes received, multiple bibles etc...
Pam's and mum's further photos...
LPs from mum & dad's collection...
Their HiFi and mum's VHS/DVD player...
Took pictures (again) of dad's cassette collection - most of this will be binned - original tapes can go to charity...
Home after around 3 hours...
Anne was off to see Hearts win 2-1 against second bottom St Johnstone, leapfrogging them to get off of bottom...
Me?
I worked on the line up for tomorrow's podcast recording...
I watched a Simple Minds documentary...
I downloaded everything I did not already have by them, studio LPs-wise...
On Anne's return, as she cooked, I enjoyed some rock'n'roll...
...as you do...
...followed by a top notch and extremely yummy salmon, pepper and creme fraiche based pasta...
..and the highlights of the Hearts game...
...and the "Death in Paradise" Xmas Special, introducing the new detective - the show is a little like "Dr Who" in that regard...
Don Gilet, of Holby fame, is the fifth actor to lead the show, as it moves into its 14th season...
No doubt a January/February staple at Crispycat Towers...
Closed the day by compiling the Milano Jukebox for 2024 - a selection of tracks I think Annie Milannie might like, from across the year...
I've done this at Xmas every year since 1998...
Plus a few specials along the way...
I realise that the LPs featured, quite probably, represent my real "LPs of the Year 2024"...
No spoilers though...
Bed post midnight...
Highlight of the Day : Pam's old music stuff...
Today's New Music:-
