Into Tuesday and there was work to be done...

Not too much pre 8...

Today. I'd be going out...

But, first, some work on this...

Then, recording my first demos for four days , as a further 12 songs took me to almost 300 since 7 February, and 18 and a quarter hours of material...

With that done, I edited it and transferred it into my phone for it to soundtrack my journey into town for a (salmon followed by chicken) lunch at the Kimpton, with chums Matt, Kris, Jack, Josh, Alex, Gillian and Sarah...

After that, half an hour or so in the office then round to Fopp...

A couple of things were bought and things to possibly download were also noted...

...and a pic of the hip hop section was sent to Creeker Craig...

A bus home and walk down the hill...

Where this annoying car was noted...

Home with my two purchases...

A pristine 2009 remaster of Coltrane's "Ascension" - noting too my previously not so ship-shape versions and the initial copy I have as part of a larger 2CD set...

And two rocking discs of Motorhead...

Home made soup for tea (the rmeains of yesterday's unmentioned lunch and the finale o "The Black List" season 6, satisfactory as ever...

We then moved onto the spin off "The Black List: Redemption", featuring a character who, where we are in the main series, is already deceased - sadly, as he was a fave...

Lights out...

Into another week...

Just before 7...

...and under reasonable skies that I would not see "in the flesh" today...

Rather, I'd be inside...

A day off from this...

...as I compiled my initial very large list of LPs released in 2019...

I also looked at which I might have bought if I'd had unlimited cash but been restricted to chart LPs only...

Discussions with Creeker Craig re my CD intake...

This is the haul thus far for 2023...

So, 46 CDs so far this year...

I have bought all these, mainly, from charity shops and bargain bins, which accounts for the levels of eclecticism...

Of the 46, only 6 were bought "new"...

And, and...

The ability to now download anything I like at zero cost has badly impacted my CD intake...

I have added some 700 or so downloaded albums to my collection in the first 58 days of 2023...

I may well be out of control...

For example, to collate my 2019 list above, I went through the "Albums of the Year" website's page for that year and, of the almost 800 LPs there, I ID'd nearly 40 LPs I "needed" to have...

And, now I do...

Of course, I am lucky to be of the mindset that it's the music, rather than the medium, that matters...

This evening, baked potato duties with Anne at Pilates and "University Challenge" was recorded and watched post "The Black List", with the end of Season 6 now just 2 episodes away...

On "UC", a disappointing 85 - bonus questions letting us down...

I think that was about it...

Some work then to the shops for my mum and back home for breakfast...

Carpet shot...

Shelf shots...

At 11, Vassia arrived and we spent two unphotographed hours on backing vocal ideas for Capital Models playing at her wedding,,,

Songs covered were "Proud Mary", "Starman", "Satellite of Love", "A Hard Rains-A Gonna Fall", "Stuck in the Middle with You", Make Me Smile" and "Suspicious Minds"...

Then I took her back to Dalkeith and popped in to see my mum and deliver her shopping...

Back home again, Anne was painting...

Time was spent editing today's recordings to send to Vassia for reference...

And, of course, some "The Black List"...

And, all too soon, the weekend was over - which is not as much of a disaster now we are no longer having to go out to work!

Lights out...

A happy birthday today to nephew Andy, seen here many many years ago, on guitar while his younger brother Ali does some singing...

The dynamic duo indeed...

Up just after 7...

No work to be done re the podcast apart form uploading it and applying the tracklist and notes...

I had been listening to an old one overnight - the one with nephew Olly guesting - released 6 years ago this week...

Then to sourcing and downloading the latest classical releases - too late for he podcast but there was plenty (and then some!) to fill it in any case...

Out around 10:30 heading for the record fair at Summerhall...

Past the Odeon, where, 49 years ago this month I witnessed Wizzard - my first concert...

Into the fair - chocka with records and idiots buying them...

(OK I realise you will adjudge me an idiot too re what is shown below)...

The paintings (Iain Patterson's "Balance" collection) adorning the walls were good though...

...and out in the corridor too...

Dr Prog was on form...

...and we retired, purchases having been made - and stopped in at Till's bookshop (where the Doc returned later to purchase a Michael Palin diary)...

Coffee and cake time at the place on the corner of Buccleuch St - which, it turned out Dr & Mrs Prog attended just yesterday...

Your correspondent's pile...

The bottom two acquired at the fair, those above at pre fair charity shops...

The doc looked suitably smug at the deal he'd got re a 3CD/DVD Weather Report box set (which I already have)...

Across town, Jane and Anne and their mum were enjoying lunch...

There was a loose arrangement for me to go and bring everyone home so, having bidden farewell to the doc, I drove to Dalry and bought more charity shop discs as I awaited a taxi call...

It turned out Anne and family made their own way home..

I arrived back at Crispycat Towers shortly before her, bearing this pile...

£3...

£1...

£1...

£1...

From the fair for £4...

...idiot...

And this, foregone the last time and now acquired for £7.50, a 3CD set...

Turned out to be not as good as I'd hoped....

Oh well..

These four for 25p each...

...including a hip hop selection which turned out to be a CD-R with photocopied cover which wouldn't rip (I sourced it instead from the net)...

And, finally, there for a quid each...

As the listen and rip commenced, Fang arrived once more...

No tea for Anne but this fish based item nourished your correspondent...

...and an evening of, mainly, "The Black List" and prepping for a session tomorrow re backing vocals...

Lights out...

Highlight of the Day : Out with the doc...
