July comes to an end...

...and we, or rather the Exec Producer, is looking after Rory Custard...

He's a nice wee, fairly shy, cat who hangs out, probably against his own will, with Fang and Tiger...

Meanwhile, at Crispycat Towers, an excellent 14% Cabernet Sauvignon from 2008 was enjoyed this evening...

We might actually have had it on the rack since 2008...

Meanwhile the weather was good outside...

..and there was some squirrel action...

Tasty tea of prawn and chorizo pasta was followed by "University Challenge" - our score was between that of the two teams...

Later, some reading, in German, about chamber music...

...which set me off looking for stuff on Amazon...

Ended up ordering a disc of music composed by Glenn Gould...

That is all...

Highlight of the Day : Wine...

Up at six again, music listening...

Later, out for croissants, passing bees...

...and flowers...

Later on, a visit from Fang the Black Cat...

The feeding station proved popular...

...as we enjoyed a relaxing afternoon in the living room, listening to records and reading...

Rory Custard was fed...

...before we headed to Anne's mum's for tea - no pics...

Good chat though...

Home around nine for more listening upstairs and finished off the "LPs I Bought in the Year of Release" project by determining those from 2011...

A quiet Sunday, all told...

Out for brunch with Anne around 10...

To a new place on Rose St...

Nothing else required till teatime re this little lot...

A walk to the library...

...where Anne perused the Fringe Programme...

...while I handed back items borrowed three weeks ago with Dr Prog and partook of four new things...

An ECM album from 2003 by Miroslav Vitous, "Universal Syncopations", featuring John McLaughlin, Chick Corea, Jack de Johnette and Jan Garbarek...

A 2CD compilation "Americans in Europe" of American Jazz players exiled in Europe from 1963 - 1979, with a nice Jackson Pollock cover (Blue Poles, 1952)...

Radiohead's latest LP...

An LP I owned back in the day, Pere Ubu's "The Modern Dance"...

Nice haul...

A walk back to the car through the (unpictured) festival crowds...

It has begun...

Stopped off at the Fringe office to buy tickets for Richard Herring (he's back!) and Nick Helm (of "Uncle" and "Loaded" fame)...

On our way down Cockburn St, we noted that what was once Cockburn St Market, where I bought so many great (and some not so great) LPs back in the 70's, is now a nail bar...

Through Princes St Gardens...

...and out, past the art gallery...

..and back to our parking spot...

Back home, the bees were out...

...and this was collected from the kindly neighbour who'd taken delivery this morning...

Yowsah!

Also stumbled across the fact that Pink Floyd have uploaded all the audio tracks from their recent massive box (1965-1972) to the Youtube...

So I now have that too...

Nice...

At 2, took Anne to her mum's for today's disaster at Tynecastle, as Hearts failed to qualify to the knock out stages of the League Cup from a group comprising the Jambos, East Fife (3-0 at home but unconvincing despite the scoreline), Elgin (a scraped 1-0 win away), Peterhead (who beat them 2-1 away mid week) and today's opponents, Dunfermline (a 2-2 draw and a loss on penalties)...

Meanwhile Queens fought back for yet another draw 2-2 against Albion Rovers...

This time they won the shoot out but they too are out (although, technically undefeated - a win  v Stenhousemuir and three draws East Kilbride!, Hamilton & Albion)...

This outcome does not bode well for the season ahead re either of our teams...

Just as well it's only a game...

To my mum's...

She was not up for any outings today and, instead, there was a rather fraught session of "fixing" her TV (she basically just keeps hitting the wrong buttons on the wrong remote control thereby losing access to her Tivo Box) and trying to teach her where she has been going wrong...

In the end, I sellotaped cardboard over all the buttons on her TV remote except power on/off - I hope she got the message...

"Use the TV remote only to switch the TV on or off and use the Tivo remote for absolutely everything else..."

Most of my annoyance stems from the fact that I find it so hard to accept she's basically just getting very old...

Her legs are on the mend though - the re-dressing visits now no longer required...

These are treated pictures - the actual ones are still too grotesque to show here...

Home via picking up a philosophical Anne from her mum's in the pouring rain, then, over to Bombay Feast, for what turned out to be a rather disappointing Indian treat...

Not to worry...

In the evening ripping and listening to new music...

Noting too, two extremely weird and annoying people whose story does not need to be told here - but just a reminder to myself if I stumble across this entry in the distant future...

At 9, the next two episodes in the excellent Spanish drama "I Know Who You Are" entertained...

Some late night Pink Floyd and off to bed...

A good day...

Highlight of the Day :  Out and about with Annie...
