My mum's birthday today - meaning another month has gone...

Recording the first half of the podcast this morning....

Exiting the house...

I like the new vase in the porch...

Snails on the path - mon the snails!

Down a busy hill...

The beast was about its business trying to capture cats...

At lunchtime, the final day for HMV on Princes St...

End of an era but, really, thee worst closing down sale ever - virtually nothing was reduced - the only difference was the plethora of signs saying "closing down, everything must go"...

I think they should have said "everything must go to our new store down at Ocean Terminal - probably over 5 miles from the city centre"...

Good luck with that HMV...

Adios...

Up the hill under good skies...

...to find this behind the door...

A Japanese LP transfer featuring the very recording of Tchaikovsky's "1812 Overture" which my dad utilised back in the 1960's to get me interested in music...

Think it worked...

Out to the Howgate this evening to meet up with Mum, sister Sheila, brother in law Andrew, nephew Ali and his fiance Julie for a birthday meal for mum...

Other nephew Andy, wife Tori and their son, Wee Dougie, were on hand from that Yorkshire via Facetime,..

Once again, I could not resist the lure of Cullen Skink...

Barbecue pulled pork on a brioche for my main...

The camera was very close to the plate...

An 86 year old birthday girl enjoyed the night out...

We took mum home, where Ali & Julie's vase and flowers were set up nicely by the Exec Producer...

Home just before midnight for some surfing and listening before hitting the sack...

Highlight of the day : Out with the family...

A lovely lunch today with chums Al, Mags, Wenders, CK and Jack at a new place, something 39...

The burger was good, as were the fries but the Diet Pepsi was one of those draught versions where the formula's obviously not quite been followed to the T - undrinkable...

Intake was kept intentionally not too large as I knew Anne was cooking tonight...

Her take on Henry Miller's Lamb Stew was quite possibly even tastier than my own a couple of weeks a go...

This was a pork stew with the added excitement of paprika - making it extremely top notch in the old culinary stakes...

Recorded the links for this week's podcast and enjoyed episode 2 of "One of Us" and a convoluted "Holby" as the writers tried to weave in the latest "Casualty" storyline...

Not sure if that worked but it was, as they say, no bad...

In other news a very sore scenario re swallowing has suddenly manifested itself but I am soldiering on...

Lights out with the mock up of the podcast...

Highlight of the Day : Anne's cooking...

Up early - this the view first thing...

Out around 7:24 for the four mile walk...

...to the top of the hill...

...and down...

A man was out, trying in vain to clean up a pot of paint he'd spilt on the road...

Onwards and over the main road at the Zoo...

Along the cycle path...

...past the golf course...

...along the road that leads to Anne's mum's.

Third time of spotting this wee chum - a bit blurry today...

...to Murrayfield...

...and along the main road - the only point with heavy traffic - but on the other side of the pavement from the road, was the Water of Leith....

Into Roseburn...

...and down to the water...

..through the woods...

...under the bridge...

...and up the forty or so steps to the road on said bridge...

Into the Georgian West End...

...past the cathedral...

...and the "Venetian" tower...

...hitting my target in 77 minutes...

At lunchtime, an order fulfilled...

...and walked on into Dalry where Swedish House Mafia did their bit for St Columba's Hospice...

...and Paul McCreesh did likewise for the Cats Protection League...

In the evening to the sixth floor of an office overlooking the castle, guests of the Fund Manager tenant...

Drinks and a lovely buffet of chilli chicken, followed by spectacular views...

...for this year's Fireworks concert, featuring the music of Prokofiev, Bernstein and Shostakovitch, in a 50 minute programme of choreographed beauty...

Those were 20 of the best of around 150 pics taken...

Home to watch Rheostatics from Saturday night in Dundas Ontario...

The wonders of the internet age...
