Up super early...

...and immediately shutting down the systems...

...for, today, we were off into the sun...

Out and into a taxi just after five...

Things went swiftly...

...before 5:30 we were done and dusted...

...as dawn came up on the runways...

Breakfast time...

...and, inevitably, some hanging around, given our in the event unrequired built in time buffer re checking in and getting through security...

Boarding around eight...

...and take off at 8:40...

Cheerio to the homeland...

...and into the sky...

After around five hours, including tasty unpictured sustenance and attempts at sleeping, lakes began to appear through the clouds...

...then, roads could be made out...

...and, finally, at 15:40 our time, 10:40 theirs, the suburbs of Toronto came into view...

Only a small amount of turbulence had caused any alarm to your not that great about flying these days correspondent...

Landed after 6 hours and fifty minutes in the air...

...but only one hour fifty minutes on our watches...

Through the airport, the largest in Canada...

..and no delays re security or customs and we were out, having collected our luggage...

A bus...

A subway...

...passing through "Jane"...

...and a streetcar...

...took us to our destination...

The beast was about its business on another continent...

We arrived at the neighbourhood of Riverside a little earlier than expected...

...and, naturally, enough, found a nice local bar for a couple of nice local drinks...

This is brewed in Collingwood, which we'll be visiting in around a week's time...

...and this was Anne's tipple of choice...

We immediately had to come to terms with the fact that hardly anything here costs what it says on any price list - additional sales tax of 13% needs to be added...

Round the corner to leafy Grant Street, our home till next Sunday...

...and a great house, sourced via Air BnB - after the one we booked back in April through them was inexplicably cancelled with just seven days to go before our trip...

Our hosts were graphic designer Steve and his partner, film producer, Liza...

Cases unpacked and out for a first look around...

Using our extremely economic weekly pass for the transport system, we made our way down town to the University district...

...and Yonge St...

We came home via an alternative route, to Broadview rather than along Queen St East...

And made plans in the garden...

Around 5, Anne decided to try and rest for a couple of hours...

I finally succumbed around 8...

But, of course we didn't waken till the next day...
