Forty Three years ago today this went to No 1 in the UK...

While I had quite a few records already, it was this one that really kicked things off for me...

Ah, the summer of '72 and an impressionable, barely 13 year old boy, had his head turned from football toward the more interesting world of music by a quintet of long haired glam rockers with a penchant for snakes and guillotines...

Meanwhile, slam back up to date with news of an accident in the kitchen, causing the demise of one the two cups which have come to be favourites of ours, bought last September in Potsdam for just one of your European Euros each...

After much searching and negotiating on the internet, this was secured...

... and is making its way from Germany as I type at twenty times the cost of the original...

Oof...

This evening, a pasta based dinner at Quattro Zero and then a walk up through the packed Grassmarket...

...to meet up with Count Brodski and Lady Penelope at the Castle Arms - which afforded these views...

Our chums enjoyed a few beers, including a "Two Pint Pot" for the Count...

We were here to see faves The Tubes...

For Brodski and I this would be our seventh time seeing this special band, for the Exec Producer, her fourth and, for Penny, her second...

Newcastle Nov 1977 - Brodski (he didn't tell me he was going!)
Knebworth Sept 1978 - CBQ/Brodski
Edinburgh May 1979 - CBQ/Brodski
Munich June 1979 - CBQ
Edinburgh Apr 1981 - Brodski/EP
Offenbach May 1981 - CBQ
Glasgow Dec 2004 - CBQ/Brosdski/EP
Dunfermline July 2012 - CBQ/Brosdski/EP/Pennster
Edinburgh Aug 2015 - CBQ/Brosdski/EP/Pennster

Sister Pam was also a huge fan - there is still a bag at my mum's house containing parts of lead singer Fee Waybill's costume and chocolate thrown from the stage when we saw them at the Odeon in 1979...

Suffice to say, the show was up to the usual high standards both in terms of musicianship and Waybill's various personae taken on during the two and a quarter hour long set...
