OK Friday (yesterday)...

Up late and feeling grim - have been under the malevolent influence of a Covid type thing since Tuesday evening...

I am indeed, laid low...

And so I did not go to the place I go to lose - although re home measurements I was the same as last week...

As ever on a Friday, more new music than normal - including very welcome new items from Cosmic Ground and City & Colour - along with a digital box set from the mighty Hawkwind, a very tasty jazz item based loosely around "Bitches Brew" and a superb collection of minimalist piano music...

Secured too, Walter Gieseking's Beethoven Sonata 14 - when very small, my dad had a 72 single of his take on the piece...

Anyway, almost all the new things were squeezed into this week's podcast which was recorded today...

Total time taken from commencing recording the links to creating the final 3 hour MP3 via Audacity was just around 100 minutes...

Of course, then I had to listen back for 3 hours to ensure no botches...

Not to worry...

Lovely chicken, leek, babycorn, cream cheese and mustard rice dish from Annie for tea...

"The Sinner" continued" and we also enjoyed "Beyond Paradise" and The Cleaner"...

And Anne managed some painting too...

Both here..

...and in the kitchen, as the window sill there was finished off...

Off to bed, coughing...

Highlight of the Day : New music and chicken thing...

Cloudland Blue Quartet - 2023 Demos

Well, Thursday and, after a mammoth effort, I finally, tonight, got this up to date to yesterday...

Of course now it's Saturday and I am behind again but battling valiantly against both time and memory loss...

Up...

Monochrome scenes...

Computer versus real life?

No of course not...

Some excellent new classical items partaken of (see below) pre breakfast - which was top...

And so, some listening and reading...

Span this today (ok an MP3 version of it) to celebrate it's recent 49th birthday...

On Twitter, a picture of this old LP garnered likes like there was no tomorrow, while interesting new classical acquisitions and a nice book about chamber music (see above) got hee haw attention...

Idiots...

Anyway, decided to change the position of the main speakers to have them point towards my head rather than past my ears...

And, lo, it as good...

In the afternoon, with Anne out re something or other I can no longer recall, I recorded 6 covers...

On her return, while she prepped a very tasty but unpictured pasta Bolognese, I recorded 12 more...

Takes my covers total up to over 300 (18 hours) since early February...

On telly, "The Sinner" continued to entertain - so slow though compared to "The Black List" - but, hey, that's "arty" for you...

Ok I think that was it, though it probably wasn't...

Highlight of the Day : New music...

Up late again...

Still listening to old podcasts overnight but not necessarily recording that I'm doing so, as regards the daily playlists...

However, I started at 2016 Week 1 and am now at 2017 week 33 - so 85 and we're on day 88...

Someone on Twitter liked a tweet from 3 years ago explaining my listening options - I updated it slightly...

The iPhone 4 needs to be updated...

To work, turning the 3 minute "best mix of a new thing" winner, into a full LP...

Done and out on Bandcamp just after 11...

1992 reduced to this 20...

And, while Anne was out with her mum at the hairdresser, a couple of CDs listened to (along with bits and pieces from today's new music - see below)...

Bought this on this day back in 2005...

Still sounds great...

A new thing found on Netflix, "The Sinner" - 2 of 8 watched - the first of 4 seasons...

This evening, loadsa new music enjoyed too, manly jazz...

Into the end of the week now...

Highlight of the Day : New LP released out of nowhere...

Up super late today...

...and reduced to setting the scene with pics of wires and rechargers...

While Anne stayed at home and painted the kitchen window sill...

...I was wheeling my mum round to the doctor to have her ears syringed to improve her hearing...

We'll see how that goes...

For now though, we were off out for lunch...

...at the Navaar in Penicuik...

Prawn Mary Rose and small fish & chips for the mum, haggis rissole and normal fish & chips for the son...

Enjoyed!

Back to Loanhead around 3 pm...

Many declarations of "I can't do this" and"I can't do that" all of which were eventually done...

Such things can be a trifle annoying but, I suppose she is 92 going on 93...

Hoping against hope the ear work has indeed, worked...

Home and no tea required for me...

This evening, trying to fill a Black List sized hole, we enjoyed "Unforgotten" and the film version of "What We Do In The Shadows"...

Not quite as good as the TV version...

Still good though....

To bed...

Highlight of the Day : Slap up lunch...

Here we go for another week...

Into the light and Anne has been painting....

Some nice quiet time spent this morning just reading Gramophone magazine, soundtracked by their LP of the month (Mozart quintets)...

Then, out...

The "new kitchen project" necessitated a visit to B&Q to check out things like lights...

I liked this one but it is somewhat impractical to be honest...

Anne was enjoying herself

We also managed our weekly shop at Aldi...

I put some off piste items in the trolley...

Home and a new lightshade is in the bedroom...

On the new music front, I stumbled across old Out of the Bedroom colleague and great songwriter (and singer/guitarist) Lindsay West - plus the ten best composers of the Renaissance according to Gramophone...

Meanwhile, on the "The Black List" front, we discovered Season 9 is now available but each of the 22 episodes costs £2.50 - so perhaps the DVD is the answer...

Either that or we wait till we can buy the series as a whole for less than the DVD box set...

And so, we're on the lookout for a new thing...

Highlight of the Day : Shopping with Anne...
