And so the penultimate month of 2017 is away...

Where has this year gone?

This morning, a baldy man was working on party music...

Or was he listening to oblique 20th Century American piano music?

A bit of both...

This afternoon the EP reported the return of Fang, for the first time since peeing on our TV (kind of)

In the evening, Anne was out and some party mix recording was undertaken...

Late doors, the tail end of "Question Time" - it really is abysmal these days...

And "This Week" - which was no bad - but we both fell asleep...

Lights out...

Highlight of the Day : Mixing...

A Mexican lunch today as Xams kind of started - out with chums Spike, Baz, Lodger and Wenders...

Opted for a small long-cooked lamb w/Mexican honey based dish, with some chilli mash - fiery but tasty...

Soundtracked today by music bought over the last 3 years - on the old shuffleplay...

In the evening, recording this week's podcast...

Twitter discussions re pre King Crimson Fripp led to this pic...

Today more time on stuff including how people with more money than they could ever spend can avoid paying anything to the collective pot that provides free schooling and free healthcare for the populace at large...

It's their money I suppose...

Xmas is coming...

Nice tea, comprising chicken and mushroom pie and a few chips - with the excellent extra of baked beans...

Commenced (again) trying to ensure all classical box sets are in the iTunes...

...and listening to this week's podcast shortlisted tracks...

On telly, the extended "Have I Got News for You" and two episodes of "Gameface" which has us hooked already...

And, of course, "Holby City", with two ultimately annoying characters heading off for Amsterdam...

No notice given, no-one told - just "we're off to Amsterdam"...

It is a soap I suppose...

Lights out...

A quick visit to the BHF shop at lunchtime - there's been nothing of interest there for a few weeks now but, today, I found this for just 199 of your new English pence...

I do like this kind of pseudo country, you know, well produced and extremely tuneful, like Lady Antebellum - this is in that vein...

It sounds easy to do but it's not...

So welcome to the collection The Shires...

Back home, after having dipped into this on the way, I made a tasty bowl of pasta as Anne was out with chum Gillian for a catch up...

I enjoyed the film "Ex Machina" which I'd been swithering about for a few weeks given its stupidly low price of £3 in Fopp at present - but, it was shown by Channel 4 on Sunday night in their "Rise of the Robots" season and duly Tivo'd for just such a home alone scenario...

A film with robots seldom disappoints Mr CBQ...

And this one did not disappoint...

Some work on new tracks for this week's podcast as Anne made her way home...

Fell asleep on the sofa watching something or other...

To bed...

Up around 5:30, fixing the iPod and loading albums into it, also sorting the music on the iPod Touch and my phone...

To the gym with Anne at 9...

Home around 10:30 for breakfast...

Tiger followed us into the house...

More work on music sorting and adding and some re-work done in the back room re being Executively Produced as regards the unsuitability of  what I did yesterday...

Tiger helped...

Showing me where some CDs ought to go...

And it was made so...

...while he headed downstairs and made himself comfortable...

Yes these next three pics are the right way up...

Sleepy wee monkey...

Lunch...

Out to my mum's around 2:30...

Home via the chippy - a foolish move in retrospect given the two weekend gym sessions...

"Blue Planet II" watched then upstairs for more music listening etc...

Started putting together a talk-less podcast of the proposed CBQ live set which is unlikely ever to be heard - using the original recordings plus the August live run through for the four new songs...

Some dodgy downloading while Anne watched the Strictly results - I already knew thanks to a Twitter Spoiler last night...

It was Susan's time - i.e. time for it to be about actual dancing...

Listening back to the proposed CBQ podcast...

Weekend over...

Up early to upload the podcast, before heading to the gym, only to discover my iPod had been accidentally wiped - I use the passive tense because I certainly didn't do it and neither did the Exec Producer so, unless Tiger or Fang somehow gained access to the house and the iPod in the night and have an understanding of these things, it's a mystery...

Several hours today were spent trying to solve this situation...

At 9:15, with the EP under the weather re cold symptoms, your correspondent headed to the gym solo...

Taylor Swift was there - or at least her lookalike who spends an inordinate amount of time on a treadmill walking up a hill, was there...

For my part, I spent and inordinate amount of time on a bike...

Home with bread-based provisions, to find Tiger in the house but not admitting to having done anything to my iPod and this in the post...

I can advise it is "far out, maaan"...

...and, post lunch and Anne heading to Tynecastle to see Hearts remain undefeated at the new version of the stadium (but also without a win there) after a 0-0 draw with Ross County, this new disc soundtracked some work in the back room and the following on the Twitter of Queens going down 3-0 at home to Livingston and having a man sent off to boot...

Just as well football (and sport in general) is, in reality, of no consequence whatsoever...

What was of consequence was that I was rearranging some CDs to give the illusion of more space - it's not over of course...

The view from the office late this afternoon as the exercise was put on hold post initial work...

...and some Alice Cooper, from 1991, was watched on DVD - strange to see him again with a smooth face...

Meanwhile the trying to fix the iPod continued too...

On Anne's return, a tasty Indian selection was ordered and collected - one starter, one side dish, one main, a chapati and a couple of unordered poppadoms...

"Strictly" and "Michael McIntyre's Big Show" were watched and enjoyed, as was an hour of Josh Widdicombe's stand up on the Tivo...

Then, back to the iPod and, finally, it seemed to be working again...

Weird but with a hint of "we'll see"...

Lights out..

Highlight of the Day : Getting the iPod to work...

Started the day with some piano music from new to me composer and recommendation from The Bad Plus' Ethan Iverson via his page on The Fleecebook, Charles Wuorinin...

Nice and oblique...

Good views this morning as I made my way down the hill on a particularly cold day...

I was out around an hour earlier than usual to enjoy a talk from Brian Wesbury, over from the USA on a visit to talk about how things are not, actually, all doom and gloom and how QE did not save the world, how government intervention just slows everything down and ends up making everyone poorer in the long run...

Watch this to understand...

Seldom have I ever heard someone talk so much sense on matters...

On his first ever visit to Edinburgh, he'd even gotten up super early to visit the grave of Adam Smith...

Anyone who does that is ok in my book...

Here's a link to his blog - take a look at the videos to learn how stuff actually works, as opposed to the pish people peddle on the Twitter and the Fleecebook...

But don't think he's a supporter of Trump, he knows Trump's a moron - he also knows that higher taxes and higher government spending are not good...

This the day after Trump's election...

Elsewhere, a walk to Fopp at lunchtime and took a chance on this, noting that Mr Harley was playing the bagpipes in a jazz context...

On reading up on him, I found it was Rufus Harley who supplied the bagpipe content on Laurie Anderson's classic 1981 debut, "Big Science"...

Truth be told, this album's not that great when he's bagpiping, but side two, where he reverts to flutes and saxes, is excellent...

On telly, we finally finished "I Know Who You Are"...

Not sure if it was good or bad how things turned out - and not sure it was worth the time invested over the piece but, hey ho, that's watching stuff on TV...

Ended the day with more listening, a classical box set from 1972 featuring Morton Feldman, John Cage and Christian Wolff - and a double LP I'm pretty sure I used to have but it's not in my records, featuring Laurie Anderson, William S Burroughs and John Giorno...

So, some interesting listening today...

That was it...

Lights out...
