Up early and working, including the upload of the podcast...

At 8:45 to Helen the Podiatrist for some chat and to have my feet seen to...

Back home for a quick breakfast then back into the car with the Exec Producer and over to the opticians for my bi-annual eye-test...

Happy to report nothing untoward within my eyes other than natural ageing...

A new prescription received which will mean new specs but no time to sort that today...

Back into the car and over to Jane and Bob's - the view form the office late-morning...

An early lunch with Ollie and Bob, Jane and Kitty were enjoying a trip to that Manchester this weekend; and then, a two hour drive, via a colourful, scenic route through the Kingdom of Fife and that Dundee, through Arbroath and on to our destination, Montrose...

A good parking spot achieved...

The three musketeers took a walk around this picturesque Scottish town - our first visit to these parts...

Back in the days when your correspondent used to regularly watch Queen of the South play away games in the third tier, the furthest north I got was Arbroath...

Drinks were partaken of in Madisons Coffee Shop...

The boy likes a full on hot chocolate...

...while I opted for the strawberry milkshake - basically just strawberry flavoured milk - nice but I'd expected a smidgen of ice cream perhaps - the EP opted for the more conventional cappuccino...

Another walk back to the ground - it was freezing...

£13 a pop and in we went, programme secured for a further £2, to join the other 509 attendees...

The mighty Queens were playing this Scottish Cup 3rd Round tie against a team, currently second in the fourth tier, who had taken us to extra time six weeks ago in the Irn Bru Cup, which we exited in the quarter finals last Sunday after a penalty shoot out against Welsh guest side The New Saints - a point I forgot to record here, what with all the excitement of seeing Alice Cooper and the Tubes...

Dobbie and Lyle, seen here warming up, both, unexpectedly, missed penalties last week...

And, just to confirm, Montrose's mascot is a mole...

Kick off...

Here are the highlights...

No goals but plenty of action - as they say...

A disappointing result but we had come no further than we would have had the game been in Dumfries...

And good to take in yet another Scottish football ground...

A replay on Tuesday at Palmerston...

We stopped off on the way home at Arbroath, where your correspondent enjoyed a battered Arbroath Smokie (only available in Arbroath apparently) - the others opting for conventional haddock...

Tasty...

The journey had been soundtracked by music from 1975, when I was the age Olly is now; plus ELO (he likes "Mr Blue Sky") and Alice Cooper (he likes "Dead Babies")...

The boy was delivered home safely to his dad...

Home and "Strictly|" enjoyed...

The penultimate episode of the dragging on and on "I Know Who You Are" was fallen asleep half way through to...

To bed around 11, goosed...

Highlight of the Day : A trip with the boy...
