Unexpected sleep in today...
1st task of the day, upon rising, was to update my playlist of classical music box sets, adding those acquired in the last 18 months!
Then, with that done, next was to ascertain and add publishing dates for quite a few of them, for which said dates were missing...
Some work with the lighting in the kitchen...
...then Anne set about clearing stuff out...
Let today be known as the day the "new kitchen" project was commenced...
And let's see how long it takes...
Meanwhile, upstairs, I was moving around my paintings, so that the toppermost boxes of classical CDs could be pushed back fully onto the wall...
Done...
And, downstairs, stuff had been chosen to be chucked...
The window looked strange without the blind...
In the evening, I was, once again, (successfully) put in charge of the Baked Potatoes...
This week's "Vera" - the 50th ever and last in the series - was watched and enjoyed and 140 was scored on "University Challenge", as Durham thrashed the hapless Bangor...
Late on a Tweet asked, if, in the future, you could only listen to the symphonies of five composers, which would you choose?
AS ever, I went for quantity but, to be fair, not over quality...
I chose, in chronological order of birth:-
Johann Melchior Molter (c140)
Franz Joseph Haydn (104)
Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart (c46)
Alan Hovhaness (66)
Leif Selim Segerstam (>350)
Those five would leave me with around 700 symphonies to delve into...
Before researching which composer has written the most symphonies, I must confess to never having heard of Segerstam - I do now have an LP to put into the collection tomorrow though...
Elsewhere today, much new tuneless contemporary classical music was downloaded and, late on, a veritable swathe of Weinberg symphonies joined the fray...
An e-mail from Ryan Air re our planned trip to Nantes lined itself up to ruin a goodly part of my day tomorrow, as did my, on retiring to bed, seemingly unable to accept a load of Weinberg symphonies iPhone...
But that's for another day...
Lights out...
Highlight of the day : Changing things and new music...
Today's new music:-
