13 years this morning since Pam slipped away...
But she lives on in our hearts, forever 48...
Here though, a little younger - she was always a force for fun!
Scenes...
The wee faces on the calendar buoy us every day...
First "work" today was to create 7" Edits of the five tracks on the "Evening Star" LP - then I did an 18 minute cross-faded medley of those...
Then, I had the idea to do a "reflection" version, where each of my tracks was exactly the same length as those on the original LP - this meant further edits were required of the tracks on side one but an elongation of "An Index of Metals up to almost half a n hour...
Then, I listened back...
Tasty...
On this basis, the LP plus bonuses is now done - out next September...
Podcast compilation - swithering whether just to include everything and go massive - cos I'm pretty sure no-one in their right mind (except me) listens to the whole thing...
Off out with Anne post breakfast over to Lynn's for some admin and for Anne to have a necklace fixed - Lynn is a wiz...
I left the ladies and got a bus into town...
To the office to give stuff to old chum CK to do her magic...
Back out and a No 3 up to Newington for a mooch around the chazzas up there - not been for a while...
I used to have this on LP, bought it from Bert Muirhead at Ezy Ryder (ex Greyfriar's Market) when they were on South St Andrew's St back in the day...
...and now, for a pound to the PDSA, it's mine again, on a crystal clear CD...
In fact, it was free, as it was "buy one get on free" and this 3CD set of top Arabian stuff was £1.99...
It's not blurry in real life...
In the Cancer Research shop, these two foreign language items joined the fray for £2.50...
...and, further along the road in not a charity shop, I got these three 2CD sets for a fiver...
Further shops visited but no more purchases...
With a full bag...
...a quick lunch...
..and a walk down to Princes St...
52 years ago, around now, I bought "The Magician's Birthday" and "Love it to Death" in here when it was also a record shop...
Onwards...
Down Cockburn St...
The Baked Potato Shop is now a Tartan Tat Outlet...
This Bistro & Gelateria used to be Cockburn St Market - 50 years ago, the main source for LPs for a 15 year old schoolboy...
I'd stand where the red bin is and peruse the latest second hand offerings...
In fact, fifty years and two days ago, I traded in 4 LPs for £2.20 and bought "Journey" by Kingdom Come" for £1.25 and "Thunderbox by Humble Pie for £1.35...
The week before I'd bought "Lie Back and Enjoy It" by Juicy Lucy (50p)...
I've not changed much in 50 years - I had no idea what any of those LPs might sound like when I bought them...
Two weeks earlier, I'd bought "Lizard" by King Crimson for £1.10, on the strength of its cover...
And, on the Saturday between Crimso and Lucy, Grand Funk's "Shinin' On" with 3D cover (£1.10) and Golden Earring's masterpiece "Moontan" (90p), joined the collection...
Those were indeed, the glory days...
Anyway...
I was being soundtracked by current new acquisitions as I traipsed around...
This was a highlight...
A 100 boarded...
...with a 26 in front of it...
...soon passed and, by the time I got to the foot of the hill, it was way behind so I walked up, welcomed home by coffee, a scone and a "Bosch"...
CDs left at the machine for later...
Just as Anne left for Pilates, Fange visited and enjoyed some Dreamies...
...and took his time...
To find...
...his spot...
...where he remained for the entire time was out..
He exited just before she arrived back...
By which time, these had been added to the collection and sampled...
This evening, baked potatoes for tea with "Mastermind" and "University Challenge", a meagre 75 points tonight...
Later on, a "Dalgleish" two-parter entertained before bed...
Highlight of the Day : Fang being comfortable...
