Up and to this...

...initially, with just a few wee lights...

Then, lights on - the silver cat, the best headphones in the world and the Documenta Fifteen book awaited...

Outside looked good and, today, it would be sampled...

First though, I amended the living room bookshelf, putting all my Documenta items together...

...then, breakfast...

Around 10, both out and walking down the hill - Anne to visit her mum, me to meet with Dr Prog...

I alighted at Shandwick Place and bought some records and a CD at the Bernardo's shop (see below)...

Then, walked along Princes St...

A message from the Doc - running late, so a wee non-purchasing look in HMV, then, over to the Scottish National Gallery of Art, our meeting place...

The Doc was keen on the Impressionists exhibition, while I was not, so, he went in solo and I headed downstairs to exhibitions of Wilson, Adesina and the outside Edge...

Adesina...

Adesina with the Beast...

The Outside Edge...

Wilson...

I would return but, for now, out the back door and over to the main collection...

I particularly liked these Dutch Winter Landscapes by Hendrick Avercamp and Hercules Segers from the early 1600's...

Onwards...

This is famous...

...so is this...

...and this...

Onwards again...

A look around the shop (no purchases) and then out to meet up with Anne - the Doc still under an impressionistic spell...

After a look around a couple of shops, back in and downstairs again to The Outside Edge...

Anne's favourite...

Wilson did some drawings of places we've visited...

Ronda...

Avila...

Toledo...

Dr Prog likes Degas...

We walked up to George St for lunch but our venue of choice was shut, so over and down Hanover Street to Bar Napoli, where two good things happened...

Right in front of us in the waiting for a table queue were my old right-hand lady, Margaret and husband Glenn - what a coincidence and the opportunity was taken to catch up...

It may have been fate that Cafe Centro was closed today...

And, a three course lunch at Bar Napoli was just £9.50, with a bottle of wine for £13...

Pinot Grigio, Anne's favourite...

Pate, minestrone and an unpictured Caesar Salad to start...

Spaghetti Carbonara, Penne Arrabiata...

...and vegetarian pizza for mains...

Ice cream and two cheesecakes to round things off...

Yumtastic...

Post sustenance, Phil showed me his very expensive new earbuds...

The Serratus - each item is custom built...

£170...

Ooofft!

Another chat with Margaret and Glenn, then, over the road to pay Phil for next year's Yes ticket then au revoir, as we headed to John Lewis in search of a pot...

One was found but not in stock...

A protracted bus journey home, from where the pot was ordered for collection on Thursday...

Today's acquisitions...

Joe Loss - A fave from when I was under 5 and, quite possibly, the first record I "owned"...

Solo oboe pieces from Britten...

Delightful works from Prokofiev...

...even more delightful works from Telemann...

...and an LP of delightful mandolin music by Beethoven, Hasse and Gianneo...

...all of which were played and enjoyed...

... as I downloaded digital versions of the music, not necessarily the exact same renditions though...

Finally, a kind of mainly reggae based DJ set from Caspa & Rusko...

Reasonable...

A small porridge for tea and 115 on "University Challenge"...

Late on listening via my own latest earbuds...

...which I brought to the attention of Dr Prog, given they sound great and only cost around £3 on a recent visit to HMV...

End of a good day...

Highlight of the Day : Out with Dr Prog and bumping into old chums...
