Up around 6...
...for coffee and music discovery...
but, first, updating the laptop...
How do you discover new to you music?
A re-post into my timeline about the fat orange felonious fool (thankfully, negative in relation to him). Who put that there? Oh, wait, I follow them. What else have they posted? Aha, why didn't that top notch jazz LP make it into my timeline? Wow. I "need" that...
And so, I made it so...
Bob Moses it was by the way...
A discussion about why we stop putting "pinups" on our walls...
This is the only popstar left on our walls...
Anne's hair appointment postponed till Thursday so no need to leave the house pre 9...
Instead, rehearsing for Out of the Bedroom on Thursday...
I will play a song each from "Anotherhappyday" (2003), "Deeperdown" (2005) and "Erstazreal" (2007) - seems like yesterday when I was making these LPs - the creation of the last two is documented on here...
Noted that the opening of both "The Time of Our Lives" from 2003 and "The Happy Song" from 2007 are exactly the same...
And so, "Love and War" will be between them...
Took Anne to Roseburn for 11 to meet with Jane for some legal signing duties and then lunch...
Meanwhile, I drove in the direction of my mum's but took a detour to the big BHF at Niddrie and found six interesting items for a total outlay of £3...
Mum in reasonable fettle - changed her oxygen tube - for the first time since she arrived home...
Probably should've been done before now...
A mother/son chat was recorded for BeReal..
She declined my offer to take her out for a "walk" in the sunshine (I'd be walking - and pushing - she'd be remaining sitting)...
Before exiting, popped for more milk...
How can one old lady get through so much milk...
On the way home, arranged to pick Anne up at the zoo post her uptown adventures...
She dropped me back at the house and, post listening to the first couple of new CDs, she headed off to pick up a new "light" shirt re our upcoming German trip...
On arriving home, a package at the back door...
A couple of nights ago, I'd (turns out, erroneously) thought one of my recent Bluetooth Earbuds was no longer charging properly and contacted the seller to enquire after a replacement...
And now, I have a spare pair of these excellent wee things...
They cost less than £10 but have a top sound...
BHF receipt also in shot...
And so to today's acquisitions...
Canadian experimentalists (but not too experimental), Crack Cloud...
An autographed CD, unable to be found anywhere on the net, by Portuguese Fado-ist, Carina Mateus...
Neither of those were particularly enjoyed by the EP...
Oh well...
Upstairs to commence the ripping and these were listened to on the system in the computer room...
Better than expected...
So good, I listened twice...
A tasty comp...
Looking back through this - it's what it's for...
A year ago today - down at North Berwick at the caravan site with our grandnephews - wee Dougie spent last night in hospital with a mysterious swollen leg - now deemed ok but on crutches...
Two years ago today (still not written up) - off to Newcastle with my recently left office buddies...
Three years ago today - integrating CD box sets - a right riveting day...
Four years ago today - the arrival of my paint mug from the Tate Modern, along with books on Gerhard Richter, Ben Nicholson and the Tate itself...
...and the arrival of a 2CD set of English Gothic music - which I gave a wee spin to, as I cancelled my mum's mobile phone contract...
Prawn pasta for tea...
An enjoyable evening of episodes 2 & 3 of "The Marvellous Mrs Maisel" followed by music listening, including a new single from Rheostatic Dave Bidini, now 30 years since he visited our shop and gave me "Introducing Happiness"...
The Rheos are about to start recording a new LP...
Yay...
Last thing, this on the Twitter - Tony Isch and his wife, listening to my Prog Rock box set in their car in Indiana...
A good end to the day...
Highlight of the Day : Rehearsing, CD finds and tasty pasta...
