Iconic sightseeing scenario...

Playlist
Various - Cloudland Blue Eclectic Selection 2024 Vol 9

Day two and up reasonably early...

Out to a breakfast place just up from the hotel, where coffee and chocolate croissants were enjoyed in the open air...

...with the injured nose...

...before taking the tram to Alexander Platz...

...and then, on to Potsdamer Platz...

...where we located the Panorama Punkt and took the elevator to the top of the building, for spectacular views around the entire city...

The sights included a few places which we plan to visit during either this stay or post our trip to Kassel this weekend to see Jorg and family...

Back down onto the street and passed the remains of the Berlin Wall at Potsdamer Platz...

...and a short walk in the roasting sun up towards the Brandenburg Gate...

...passing the Hessen building...

...and the Jewish Holocaust Memorial, a walk-through of which was most impressive...

On to the Brandenburg Gate, where we stopped to take some pics...

 ...including along towards the Siegesaule...

...and, in the opposite direction, to Alexander Platz...

...and then up Unter den Linden, where we visited the Ampelmann shop...

...and an exhibition, sponsored by Volkswagen, of iconic articles of the 20th Century...

I will let these 50 or so pics (especially the first of them) do the talking...

The exhibition was about icons - people had put theirs on the wall...

Back out into the hot sun, and on up past the Humboldt, University of Berlin, passed the book and record stalls (nothing purchased)...

Then down into the U-Bahn at Museuminsel and out to the Hauptbahnhof...

...for another train up to Prenzlauer, where we stopped off at the famous Konnopke Schnellimbiss for Wurst and potato salad for lunch...

This trip, we did not go into (currently under scaffolding) Auf einem Sonntag im August...

...but we did revisit the Prater Biergarten and large beers were enjoyed...

...while the damage to the nose was inspected...

...and a visit was made to our table by a small green beastie...

Then, a walk down Kastanien Allee, our favourite street in the capital of Germany, where I found the Da Capo record shop...

...and made my first purchases of the trip for just 6 of your European Euros...

Then, to Morgenrot for more beer/coffee in the Sun...

...before taking a tram back to Greisswaldertrasse...

...and a block or so up from our hotel to the Koenig Schnitzel house, where top-notch schnitzels were very much enjoyed...

A constitutional was undertaken...

The sun was going down...

Naturally...

...and treatedly...

...before taking a tram back down to Alexander Platz, and a walk around the environs...

...before returning to the hotel for the night...

Highlight of the Day : Sightseeing and relaxing...
