Lying about a reaction is called marketing...

Playlist

Awake at 4:30, feeling a bit grim...

Snoozed with the 90 minutes edit of the session from yesterday in the cans...

And so, up at 6...

Working on the usual morning stuff...

Scenes at 8:20...

Alternative calendar pics...

Scrambled egg/boiled egg breakfast...

Next CD Box, No 96 (12 April), "Naxos Collections" to "Classic CD Vol 26"

I chose the first Classic CD...

I used to buy this magazine every month - it was a good read and introduced me to a lot of classical music over the years...

Each month, I'd put a wee sticker on the back to remind me which tracks I'd particularly enjoyed...

Eventually, it ran out of steam but it lasted for over 10 years, from May 1990 to issue 130 in July 2000, and I have all but one of the magazines/CDs...

The absence of Issue 126 and its CD (I didn't get around to buying it before Issue 127 came out) has always irked somewhat...

Anyway...

Might as well post up the next one as I am a couple of days behind (and even more so with the actual playing of the chosen discs - why do I do these stupid projects?...

Anyway, No 97 (13 April), Classic CD Vol 27 - Vol 59...

I chose Volume 54...

...as it had the most amount of music I enjoyed at the time, per the sticker on the back...

Mostly due to the Purcell overload, no doubt...

I do like a bit of Purcell...

Next, box 98 (Today's box), Classic CD Vol 60 - Vol 83...

The choice, Volume 74...

A broad spectrum of composers...

...and, again, chosen for the amount of subjectively "good" music included...

OK, so that was that up to date...

We were "up with the worms" and Anne wanted to go to the Gyle, so I cadged a lift and then jumped on a tram...

I was out and about...

Almost my entire two and a half hour sojourn today, was soundtracked by the brilliant "California Concert" played by the CTI All Stars at The Hollywood Palladium, on July 18, 1971...

...featuring...

Hank Crawford - Alto Saxophone
Ron Carter - Bass
Billy Cobham - Drums
Hubert Laws - Flute
George Benson - Guitar
Johnny Hammond - Organ, Electric Piano
Airto Moreira - Percussion
Stanley Turrentine - Tenor Saxophone
Freddie Hubbard - Trumpet

Give it a listen if you can find it - it is stellar...

Anyway, alighted at Shandwick Place...

...and found these at the BHF...

Also popped into Fopp but nothing enticed...

Then, I walked to the far end of Prices Street...

...and jumped on the tram again from St Andrew Square to the top of Leith Walk, where these were found for 50p each...

A walk all the way down the long street took me to the vicinity of the Dockers, where this was nabbed for a quid...

Back on the tram to Haymarket...

...and a No 100 bus to the bottom of the hill and a No 26 bus to the top of the hill and walk back down to the house...

Anne was out at Pickleball - so, I enjoyed a couple of the new CDs...

Almost inevitably, I fell asleep...

On Anne's return, a late lunch and we finished off Dan Levy's "Big Mistakes"...

...in the company of "the short-eared squirrel"...

I noted still not feeling very well...

The lurgi seemed to be returning...

Post a salmon based tea they were indeed back with a vengeance...

Meanwhile, this morning, I'd posted about this being the 17th anniversary of my finishing off the album "Soundingfall" (one of my favourites) and encouraging people to maybe pop over to Bandcamp for a listen...

You can find it here...

Tonight, as a follow up, I posted this...

In reality, not one single person had listened...

FFS...

Late evening correspondence with Edward Spark...

He has another new LP in the works, which is good news...

That sent me listening to "Cobalt", due in July I think bit I could not for the life of me recall how I recorded it...

I will need to do so for the sleeve notes, of which, at present, there are none...

In passing, I asked Sparky if he thought I had too many CDs...

...including these 3 and a half boxes of acquisitions over the last couple of weeks..

"Nope, never" came the reply...

Good man...

By 10, I was coughing incessantly and decided to just head to bed...

Final scenes...

As I crawled under the duvet at 10:30, I accidentally slightly knocked the heel of my left foot against the wood of the bed...

Just a wee bump, mind...

The tiniest amount of contact made...

Hmmm...

Let's see how that goes...

Highlight of the Day: Out and about...

I like the look of that California Concert, not heard of it before. Think I'll check it out. Thanks

It's superb - but I realised yesterday that I've already had it for a few years. Still, good to rediscover it...
