The currency of music listening used to be money, now, it's time...

Playlist

Much of the playlist today dictated by the decision to recreate a Vertigo compilation from 1970...

Coughing got me up early once again...

Scenes, some fuzzy...

Working on the morning "chores" re updating all manner of shite that no-one gives a flying fu...

"language, Timothy"...

..that no one cares about...

Picked CDs from the next five boxes...

No 107: Art Blakey - Gary Boyle...

From this I chose an ECM release from 1993...

...secured I think with a credit note from Record Shak, after having traded some stuff in...

A tasteful quartet set from Bley, Peacock, Oxley and Surman...

Splendid stuff...

Box 108: Terry Bozzio - Bill Bruford...

Two drummers...

...but I chose a bassist...

Jack Bruce's solo albums have always impressed me far more than anything he did with Cream...

Better musicians for a start - John McLaughlin, Dick Heckstall-Smith and Jon Hiseman...

Another excellent listen...

Box 109: Bill Bruford - Donald Byrd...

As with the George Benson the other day, my recent listen to the CTI All Stars, drew me to this Kenny Burrell disc...

Kenny wasn't at the concert but quite a few of the others on here were...

I do love  the sound of a jazz guitar...

...and Mr Burrell is one of the best...

Box 110: Donald Byrd - Billy Cobham...

Chose this trio set from 1977...

Three erstwhile members of Miles Davis great Quintet of the 1960's...

Can't go wrong with that...

I've searched my diary as to why this is a CD-R but can find no mention...

It could be I accidentally bought an empty box...

Wouldn't be the first time...

Box 111: Billy Cobham - John Coltrane...

Went for an old favourite, Ornette Coleman's "Science Fiction", this the 2CD set with loads of bonus material..

...bought in a wee record shop in Fussen, in the German Alps, near Newschwannstein Castle, back in 2003...

His work was a big influence both on The Bad Plus and their drummer, Dave King's band Happy Apple...

So here are the next 5 CDs to be played, of which I managed four today, leaving Ornette for tomorrow...

All of that pre breakfast eggs...

It was Tuesday...

...and the eggs were good...

At 10, out and a awlk down the hill and to Tesco and Lidl - the main target being cough sweets...

Secured...

No pics though as I inadvertently left both my phones at home...

A walk back up the hill...

Later, while perusing the last copy of Gramophone I bought (the centenary edition from April 2023), I came across this article...

The currency of music listening used to be money, now, it's time...

Also, news of new music from Edward Spark...

Discussions with him inspired me to do a 2026 remix of the 32021 remix I did of his previous track with Kiffie, "Butterflies"...

Also this afternoon, I sourced the missing tracks form the Vertigo compilation, which added a few items to the library...

Anne was off to PickleBall - I watched a dreadful film, "War Machine" with the guy who plays "Reacher"...

SFX good. Film terrible...

Unlike these potatoes...

...and this parsley sauce...

...cooking while I enjoyed 1970 music from Vertigo, and both of which, along with asparagus, accompanied tonight's salmon...

...and a new to us thing, "The Murder Mile"...

Meanwhile, experimenting with the last 100 or so CDs, which, in the olden days, would have been "The Shelf" in the living room...

Abandoned as rubbish...

More TV - a couple of episodes of "Shrill"...

Bed at midnight...

Highlight of the Day: Remixing a remix...
