Gould - Glenn Gould - The Composer

Up super early again and managed quick bass and drums mixes on fifteen of the thirty tracks...

And so those soundtracked the first part of the day...

At lunchtime, a walk down to Stockbridge and a trawl through the charity shops..

Picked up this special edition of Bryan Ferry's "Olympia" with two extra tracks and a DVD housed in a nice wee book package...

...and yes, I do already have the "ordinary" version...

And this by Yves Montands re the words of Jacques Prévert, whom I studied in 6th Year French nearly 40 years ago now...

It's nice...

Noted times for a bus back to the town centre re having spent too much time trawling...

Back home this evening and, with Anne at Zumba, on to some guitaring...

Recorded 1st takes on the fifteen thus far mixed bass and drum tracks (bass also 1st takes of course - this is a quick work project)...

Then, listening to the new purchases and some infuriating searching for accomodation re a Spanish trip early next year...

Lights out...

highlight of the Day : Guitaring...

Bassing...

Cloudland Blue Quartet - 2017 Drum Tracks

Up unfeasibly early to work on the drum tracks again...

Kind of finished and so, onto the iPod and out, just listening to drums...

Looking forward to adding instrumentation...

The beast was about its business...

At lunchtime, a card purchased re nephew Olly's excellent 8 straight "A"s performance in whatever it is exams they do these days at age 16...

This was delivered stuffed full of money by a proud aunt...

On the way home, Rory Custard spotted - looking guilty...

In the evening, bass work started...

Sore thumb by the end of it...

Now have 30 drum tracks and thirty bass tracks to sync together...

It's all good...

Highlight of the day : Bassing...

It continues....

OK Fang, will do...

This morning, post a plethora of listening, a new project instigated with texts to drummers John and Keith (who prefers bass at present) with a view to some live CBQ...

Much work today then on drums...

Out to my mum's in the afternoon where this wee monkey awaited us under mum's car...

The old lady agreed to a walk around the cul de sac...

...and practised getting in and out of her car, which she's not driven for three months now...

The delightful music of Mr Purcell soundtracked our trip there and back...

This evening, some looking at art and some further drum work...

Lights out...

A wee visitor this morning as I organised the weekly upload to Mixcloud of the Cloudland Blue Eclectic Selection...

Tiger the Cat, for it was he...

Beautiful skies but, as far as I can recall (it's a week from now as I write this), I didn't venture out...

Anne spent much of the day prepping for the visit tonight of chums Lynn and Ross - who brought some lovely flowers...

Meanwhile, also adorning the living room, this wee Cat From Crete as a present for Anne's having looked after Rory Custard while chums Gail and Kevin had been away....

Drinks and caht and music ensued into the wee small hours - tomato and mozarella with Italian meats...

...followed by home made lasagne...

..and a chance for Ross to see pics from Anne and Lynn's recent Sorrento trip...

German bier also enjoyed...

...along with Italian Red Wine...

Your correspondent was not too the worse for wear come retiral around 2:30...

A good day...

Highlight of the Day : Visit from Lynn & Ross...

Trentemøller - Into The Great Wide Yonder

At lunchtime today, this at Fopp for £3...

It soundtracked the drive home and then the early evening, with Anne out for dinner with chums Chris-with-a-Ch and Gillian...

Three day old soup and some bread for your correspondent...

Hard what to make of the "Floyd" disc given I'm so au fait with the original - two of the worst ever Alice Cooper vocal performances I've heard don't add to proceedings but it certainly sounded better on the full system in the house than it did in the car...

"Ender's Game" was one strange and unsatisfying slice of nonsense this evening on the Tivo, pre taxi duties...

I bet the Orson Scott Card book is better - couldn't surely be worse...

Anne home around 10, a visit from Tiger, more listening and then bed...

Highlight of the Day :  A walk from Fopp in the rain with high hopes...

Crows on the roof this morning...

...and the view from the top of the hill as I made my way home...

...having popped down to Stockbridge at lunchtime very nearly drawing a complete blank re my trawl around the charity shops till I found this little beauty for 99p in my last stop...

Very tasty and, so good that it instigated some frenzied downloading of further works by the Danish electronic wizard...

Japanese Splinterheart flowers now grace the front garden...

..and potatoes were in the pot...

to accompany very good lamb steaks in a tomato and onion sauce...

...and broccoli....

The latest view of "the shelf", early May to early August...

An evening spent mostly listening other than the end of the 6th season of "New Girl" - apparently the 7th will be the last - this has been one of the best...

Lights out...

Highlight of the Day :  Trentemøller...and lamb...

Second favourites can also be good and the artist as composer...

Good skies again today...

...and, at almost the same time, not so good skies...

At home, this had arrived from Europe...

It replaces nicely the illegal download already in the collection post Portugal winning Eurovision...

A return to their former glory for Madredeus, albeit with only two of the five performers being stalwarts of the band...

Tasty home made soup, including cabbage and courgettes from Rory Custard's garden - downside was the later on onset of the trumpets of Satan...

On telly, "In the Dark" ended seemingly promising a return at some point...

Much enjoyed...

And "Holby" was as entertaining as ever...

Lights out...
