Diary writing, music listening and breakfast then, car loaded and taking Anne to PickleBall, then bread and rolls purchases on the way home...
Some work on notes re my thoughts on the band and then out to Roslin for today's session...
Sadly JB's sister passed away on Wednesday so he was unavailable and so the 2017 trio played today...

Some good work done on the Dylan stuff, formulating new ideas for "Knockin' on Heaven's Door", "If Not For You", "Desolation Row", "All Along the Watchtower", "Hurricane" and "Like a Rolling Stone", plus plays through of "Mr Tambourine Man", the unlikely to be played live blues of "Meet Me in the Morning", "The Times They Are a Changin'" and "Hard Rain"...

Capital Models
The Current Goal is for us to actually BE Capital Models, an original band that plays covers, as opposed to a just any other covers band. So we shouldn’t really be too "precious" about the originals...
We book a series of 4 Sunday afternoon themed performances for 2027 - 10 Jan, 18 Apr, 8 Aug, 28 Oct...
We make a list of artists by whom we can easily learn and play a 40 minute set (10-12 songs) - we already have Bowie, Eno, Roxy, Velvets and Dylan...
Gig Format:
Support Set: 30 minute Original material Capital Models set - 1980 repertoire and/or new stuff we might write in the current quartet...
Themed Set : 40 minute Themed Set...
Encore Set: 40 minute set of crowd pleasing covers we all like to play...
We have 7 or 8 rehearsal sessions between each gig...
Rehearsal Sessions Format
Support Set : 30 Mins + 20 mins for honing = 50 mins...
Themed Set : 40 Mins + 30 mins for honing = 70 mins...
Encore Set : 40 Mins - no honing as we "know" these = 40 mins...
Rehearsal Timings
10:30 Set Up & Soundcheck / 10:45 Support Set...
11:35 Themed Set / 12:45 Break...
13:00 Encore Set / 13:40 Take Down / 13:55 End...
The gigs are for people who are interested in the featured artist/theme but not sacrosanct about the songs. To give things a point, we do the songs in our own way without referring too much to the originals (which is exactly how we've always worked really) - we build on the DNA of the originals but no problem if they sound like we wrote them...
We play on the basis that the audience will not be seeking perfection re any covers - they will be happy that songs sound a bit like the originals, but no-one is likely to worry about the minutiae...
We play the songs as Capital Models...
We work quickly and effectively, always listening back to what we've done and, at home, between rehearsals, come up with ideas to try at the next session up to improve things - and, where possible, let the others know our ideas via the WhatsApp group so there’s an opportunity to know what might change when we get together…

We need to move forward after this period of being bogged down with Dylan songs...
Anyway, home and some "Scandal" before a top notch casserole from Annie...
Then, more "Scandal" and "The Great Celebrity Throwdown"...
Last thing, I edited today's sessions and those accompanied me into the Land of Nod...
