Fixing a blind can outdo a Solar Eclipse...

Playlist

Awoke and had a hankering for some Tangerine Dream...

Did I say I secured a ticket for their gig next February in Glasgow?

So, 5 gigs booked now, all in Glasgow...

Loscil
Jon Anderson
Dar Williams
Tangerine Dream
Yes

Enjoyed a couple of TD LPs then looked for the 2022 improvised sessions...

Up and added it to the mobile listening unit...

The view from the office...

The sun would figure later on today...

To the machines and writing this while enjoying the Tangs...

It was Wednesday...

An ideal breakfast created - one egg, one bacon medallion, one mushroom, one tomato, three spoonfuls of beans and a slice of toast...

Better than last night's evening aberration...

Anne left for Zumba...

I called the blind people, again...

Then, I was looking back here to pin down exactly when young Blair, whose birthday it was today, came round to help with the shelves in the back room - I found it was over five years ago...

Anyway, while searching, I came a cross a post indicating my 1st 7" single, 1st LP, 1st 12" Single, 1st CD and 1st CD single...

Since then, I have managed to re-secure a vinyl copy of "All the Young Dudes" so I posted an update - here, the quintet in question...

...which led me to play Mott the Hoople and their descendants, Mott...

Then, back at the machines...

...I enjoyed "You + Me = Love" by The Undisputed Truth - which led me to investigate other Norman Whitfield Productions and, then, other LPs the wah wah guitarist, Melvin Ragin, appeared on, of which I have around 10 already and which investigation resulted in today's funky new intake (see below)...

At lunchtime, more "Exploding Kittens"...

...before Anne headed off again, to the dentist and to her mum's...

I watched the third "Venom" film...

Probably not quite as good as the second but an entertaining hour and half or so...

Post that, a third call to Apollo Blinds - giving them my info for the third time - they don't keep it, they just pass it on.  Hopeless...

I decided to do the job myself...

Researched how to remove the blind...

Moved all my stuff away from the window...

On Anne's return, we managed to get the blind off the wall and, wonder of wonders, we fixed it ourselves!

Some judicious hoovering took place...

...and a decision was made not to reinstate the curtains...

Good job, Dave & Anne!

Then, to Capital Models once again...

After yesterday's extended writing re the band, today, this...

Our next rehearsal after this Sunday is Friday 28 August....

We have nothing in the diary after that...

So, a poll - "When can you play in September?" offering 16 dates, i.e. each Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday across the month...

After the voting, we had not one single day where we might play as a quartet, although there is the possibility of Sunday 13th but confirmation not yet available...

If it comes, we'll have one day out of 16. If it turns out to be not doable, we’re looking at October…

One rehearsal every two weeks isn't really enough based on what was put forward by the others regarding working on material at those sessions...

We'd end up taking months to do a few songs...

But...

Maybe it's not as bad as it seems...

While it's possible Sun 13th may be our only chance to play as a quartet (depending on ultimate availability confirmation re that day), there are also 7 opportunities to play as a trio, or, more likely, 5 opportunities, given 3 of the 7 are on the same weekend...

There are also 6 opportunities for duo sessions, or, again, more likely 3 as there are 2 each over the course of 3 weekends...

In all, looking at it optimistically, only 3 days are ruled out (the two where only one of us can play and the one date no-one can make)...

So I put a suggestion to the band and asked for thoughts and await their comeback...

They wanted to get into the nitty gritty. Non quartet sessions might be the opportunity to do that.  Whoever's not playing can hear the results of what gets done?

Eschewing duos for trios only, I suggested the latter, for three different configurations of the band, as follows...

Suggested Dates for Trios
Sun 6 & Fri 11 DR/JB/KA (venue tbc)
Sun 13 DR/KA/JW (possibly w/JB) (Roslin)
Sun 20 & Sun 27 DR/JB/JW (Roslin)

That would give us at least one session each weekend - five in September instead of one, or, indeed, none...

The boys in the band had already all indicated necessary availability on the dates, so, now, let's see how that goes...

Time for a prawn based pasta tea...

And then, the eclipse...

Total over parts of Spain, as watched on the European Space Agency's Youtube channel...

...with gibbering commentary from the lady on the right, who, Anne informs me, is the new Patrick Moore...

This screengrab gives a good view in a "real" situation...

And here, finally, an imaged grabbed from the BBC tomorrow morning...

Here, to be honest, we noticed nothing....

Watched the first episode of a multi season cartoon - with similar animation to "The Simpsons"...

Promising...

And, two more "Murder in a Small Town"...

Later on, some more listening, before retiring around 11:30 with "Alice Cooper Goes to Hell" in the cans...

Eagle eyed readers will note that the cover of this, now 50 year old, LP...

...is a recoloured edit of the picture from the inner sleeve of the band's release from 3 years earlier, "Billion Dollar Babies"...

So, there you go...
