Culinary delights...

Playlist
Brian Eno - Discreet Music (Half Speed Version)
Various - Weekly Playlist No 19
Pet Shop Boys - Elysium
Simple Minds - Celebrate: 1979-2013
David Bowie - VH1 Storytellers

Started the day, as each day has started since the return from Italy, with the uploading of chosen pics to drafts of the entries for this here diary - now all up of course...

Soundtracked for that today by the half speed, one hour version, of Brian Eno's first ambient album, "Discrete Music", from 1975...

He called it discrete, I call it wonderful...

At lunchtime today, an attempted bus journey over to the Royal Mile, to try and further reduce my outstanding credit with a record emporium around those parts, was thwarted by the buses not exactly running as per the published time table...

Instead a walk past HMV led me to note they have opened what they term a "Bargain Basement"...

So, a goodly amount of time was spent trawling through everything down there and I emerged with these for £3 each...

Difficult to make out I know but they are the double CD box of Pet Shop Boys' last but one album "Elysium" - which, upon purchasing the 1CD version at the time of its release, was deemed possibly the worst ever PSB album I'd heard - today I reconsidered and found it to be in fact "not bad"...

Also in the bag, again for £3, is the 3CD box set by Simple Minds, "Celebrate", documenting their career from 1978 to 2013 - again, much of this, I already have...

Finally, David Bowie's performance on VH1's Storytellers programme, from around 2000, upon the release of his last album with Reeves Gabrels, "Hours..."

Some good stories...

Home in the sun...

...the strong and blinding sun...

...to a superb culinary delight from the Exec Producer...

Home made spicy onions with popadoms...

...some lovely red wine...

...and a top notch lamb rogan josh...

Yum...

Elsewhere, the acquisitions were sampled and the Weekly Playlist No 19, due last Saturday, was recorded for upload tomorrow...

On the blink on holiday Sony headphones, which had served me so well for so long, were dumped, upon the arrival of replacements today...

Updating continued apace...

Highlight of the Day : Superb spicy onions and rogan josh...
