Track of the Day
Michael Rother – Flammende Herzen (6:52)

Today’s track (a bit longer than usual but it’s worth it) is one which always reminds me of a very snowy weekend Anne and I spent in the house of a friend of one of the other exchange teachers I worked with in Germany in 1980...

We were snowed in at one point and we enjoyed the music of Michael Rother...

And here, it started snowing late last night...

This morning, we had around three inch deep snow in the garden and the surrounding streets...

Meg the Black Cat ventured out and was soon jumping around in this (to her) strange white stuff...

Uptown, the Castle, Princes St Gardens and Charlotte Square were beautiful first thing...

At lunchtime I tramped along through the slush to FOPP and returned the Charlotte Gainsbourg CD under their “Suck it and See” policy – exchanging it for, the much better, “Zeitgeist” by Smashing Pumpkins...

The only other album I have by this band is their 1995 “classic” "Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness”, which I confess to never really having listened to (as is the case with many albums I own)...

So, while Anne was out at Keep Fit with Lynn, I listened to both albums and found them to be good – certainly much better than some talentless ex-public schoolgirl living off the reputation of her father – in fact, on second listening whilst writing this, I can confidently state that the new acquisition rocks...

Aptly, “Masterchef” was on in the living room as we prepared dinner – salmon with baked potato and stir fried vegetables in soya sauce...

“Who Do You Think You Are”, with Fiona Bruce, was a step too far though and I returned to more pumpkin smashing while writing this...

Later on, downloaded three tracks by five-a-sides buddy Colin Asquith from here - top stuff Colin!

Certainly lightened the mood a little after the massed guitars and brutal pounding of Messrs Corgan and Chamberlin...

Also downloaded the latest sampler compilation from Canadian label Zunior (I love Canadian music) from here - (mostly) tasty!!

I urge you to partake...

Highlight of the Day : Watching Meg the Black Cat gambolling in the snow....
