Track of the Day
The Bad Plus – Radio Cure (6:42)
Hope you enjoy today’s track, which is the exquisite cover by The Bad Plus of Wilco’s “Radio Cure”...
Up late, 9:15 and left for my mum’s at 10:04, 20 minutes late...
The hills looked good under the, still lying, snow...
This starling serenaded me as I got out the car – there have been starlings nesting in this corner of my mum and dad’s house ever since the late 60’s...
Anyway, my mum had called yesterday to advise a problem with her video recorder - from her description, a new one beckoned and, sure enough, upon arrival and perusal of the problem, it was decided to enter the market for a new machine...
We headed to Comet – no video recorders in stock – just combined VCR/DVD Recorders at around £100 more...
To nearby Sainsbury’s – nothing...
To Argos –though they did have a suitable machine, it wasn’t going to be in stock till the middle of next month – there was a VCR/DVD player rather than recorder though, in our price range but in stock not here, next to my mum’s house but back over around 10 minutes drive from Crispycat Towers...
Off we went and, 90 minutes after leaving my mum’s for Comet, we were back there with a new source of entertainment...
Much crawling around and plugging in of leads and mucking around with remote controls and reading of instruction manuals later and she was sorted...
Back home for 2:40 with a family party in honour of niece Kitty’s 5th Birthday tomorrow, due to start at 3pm...
We decided to walk as Jane and Bobby’s place is near Murrayfield and their street is a popular parking area for the rugby tubes who attend internationals (Scotland v Wales today) yet don’t ever seem to go to any club matches (average attendance 3 men and a dog)...
Kitty and her brother Ollie were in top form...
...and Jane’s culinary skills were to the fore as always, with an excellent choice of chicken korma or morrocan lamb...
Followed by the cake and much singing of “Happy Birthday”...
A leisurely drink was followed by coffee then it was home time....
The exit was flanked by children...
We caught a bus straight away, at last enjoying some luck with public transport this weekend...
Home for some much needed “me time” as I enjoyed the Jackie McLean album downloaded yesterday and The Bad Plus’ latest while writing this and yesterday’s entries...
A good but very busy weekend...
Highlight of the Day : Family stuff...
