Finally rose around 10am not feeling good – sore throat, stuffed up nose – I’ve not been ill for a while so I’m hoping this will pass quickly – recent “colds” have been known to last for over a month...

Wrote up the diary for the last couple of days and made breakfast at home with Anne – small toasted bacon sandwich with fruit juice and lashings of coffee...

Booked a ticket for The Bad Plus’ show at the Glasgow International Jazz Festival and a return bus ticket as Anne’ll have the car – and the bus is much cheaper for a trip in these days of excessive diesel prices (which are only going to get higher of course)...

Whilst reading through the various links to this blog, I discovered Tim Vesely, formerly of Rheostatics, has a new album out with his band The Violet Archers – after some research I bought it over the net on a “double format” basis – meaning I received the album immediately by download with a physical CD on its way from Canada...

You can download the title track from here for free and the record label (which stocks hundreds of great Canadian bands) is here - they offer a free ten track sampler of their catalogue for download...

While waiting for the download to complete I wrote a first draft lyric for the new chord sequence I was working on last week - initial title is "Blend"...

Then, before having a chance to give the new album a listen, it was off to sister-in law Jane and husband Bobby’s place – today is Bob’s birthday and he treated us to one of his excellent BBQs...

During the visit we were able to present brother-in-law Keith and his new wife Maureen with their wedding photos...

I’m proud to say everyone was impressed with my handiwork and Keith & Maureen thanked me with some vouchers to be used at the Filmhouse – quite apt...

Here're Keith and niece Kitty this afternoon...

Back home, after spotting a courgette taking shape in the garden...

...we watched the Czech Republic throw away a two goal lead and lose 3-2 to Turkey, the latter’s last two goals coming in the last three minutes of the match...

Then listened to the great new album by The Violet Archers before calling it a night, having spent much of the day annoying Anne with my incessant coughing...

Highliught of the Day : A new "Rheostatics" album...
