To Tesco early doors for milk and cat food...
After breakfast, drove out to Loanhead (Anne driving due to my arm pain) to (a) assemble a cabinet for my mum’s bathroom (same as the one we have in ours) and (b) determine whether a Freeview Box would work for her (we fetched our previous box from the attic)....
As sister Pam did some shopping, there was much cursing, swearing, building and rebuilding (due to basic errors) of the cabinet - which was finished just as Pam returned with lunch provisions...
We determined that my mum can’t use Freeview but she can cancel the Sky channels she doesn’t use and save herself £21 per month – so she did that instead...
We discovered she still has a bag of candles in her kitchen from the time of the 70's power cuts – (February 1972)....
After a tasty lunch, Anne and I returned to Edinburgh...
...shopping at Tesco (second visit in a day) before going to the cinema (six attendees) for the film “Run Fatboy Run” – which was an enjoyable wee film but, really, nothing great – in the final analysis probably failing to live up to its potential...
Back home, coffee in the back garden as the sun went down on another gorgeous late summer’s day...
Two episodes of Corrie plus, of course, “University Challenge” – once again your correspondent declared himself to be “on fire”, answering six of the first eight questions correctly – it went downhill from there though...
Then a programme about a woman who did not clean herself for six weeks...
The outcome – she realised she only really needed toothpaste and soap to say clean and healthy and had been wasting a ton of cash on pointless cosmetics for years...
Ended the day with the latest episode of “Heroes” – still hanging in there...
Highlight of the Day : Out and about with Anne
