And into October we go...
"Wait! It's October?"
Yep, little cat, it's October...
The release of a surprise single (later to become an EP)...
...which was, in turn, followed by more work...
Post a light lunch, at 12:30 we exited and walked down the hill...
...for the bus to that Glasgow...
...the clock on which was an hour slow...
We arrived at 13:45...
..and took a further walk...
...which ended up down some steps on West George Street, at Cafe Wander...
...where coffee and carrot cake were enjoyed...
...before jumping on a bus over to Byres Road...
...and a walk around Ruthven Lane...
Always interesting for a wander but unlikely anything would be purchased - which was, indeed, the case...
Or, cases...
Although they did have a couple of big boxes of classical CDs at £2.50 each or take the whole lot for 50p a pop...
More wandering...
Then, back to Byres Road...
Where, post a rummage in the Oxfam shop, we retired into Thunderdog for drinks...
...before setting out on another walk around the environs...
...and checking out tonight's venue for Dar Williams, supported by Heather Maloney...
Then, a very tasty and VFM Pre Theatre dinner at Masala Twist's Bantawala - where we lunched with nephew Olly a couple of months ago...
Pakora and Onion Bhaji...
Drinks...
Chicken Karahi and Lamb Dopiaza...
Rice and Naan...
...all of which was finished off (almost), in a reasonably leisurely fashion..
...and followed by a further constitutional along Ashton Lane and its surroundings...
Then, to the venue for the 7:30 door...
Good seats in the third row in a very enthusiastic but, crucially, respectful audience...
A good 40 minute set from Ms Maloney was followed by almost 90 minutes of Dar Williams - whom I don't think we've seen live since Manchester back in 2016...
A consumate entertainer, with top stories around almost every song...
And, all too soon, she was away...
The setlist tonight was...
Fishing in the Morning
The Babysitter's Here
Hummingbird Highway
Berkeley
Are You Out There
Magical Thinking
Sacred Mountain
Tu sais le printemps
Wilder Than Her
Little Town
Olive Tree
What Bird Did You See
lowa
The Christians and the Pagans
Encore
When I Was a Boy
We've see Dar Williams many times since I first discovered her music in 1996. Of the songs above though, it was our first time hearing all but five performed live...
At 10pm, an eventful bus journey from Partick to Buchanan Street station, in the company of a very, very drunk indeed young man, who actually accidentally headbutted the bus as it arrived, then proceeded to chat to us unintelligibly for the what seemed like hours on the 15 minute journey, while swigging from a bottle of wine...
Luckily, he was not going to Edinburgh, but we were - and I was soundtracked by songs we'd heard tonight...
The very enjoyable day ended with a duplicate of Monday night's scenario, with a walk up the hill just before midnight...
Highlight of the Day: Dar Williams in concert for the first time in a decade...
