Our last day in Dublin...
The weather was tip top...
The view from the room...
Unpictured breakfast too, was tip top...
We checked out but left our bags with the hotel...
...and managed one last tram on our 24 hour ticket...
...down to Trinity College...
Once again, I will let the pictures do the talking but what a lovely place this must be to study...
After an hour or so, we walked along Dame Street to Temple Bar, where we stumbled across the Irish Film Institute and its lovely cafe bar, which afforded a break and coffees...
Then out, for a further walk about...
We were now able to gain access to St Stephen's Park, closed by the strike two days ago...
Good to see the gates open again...
A short visit to the mall over the road...
...then back through the park...
..and out past the statue to Wolf Tone...
..and back to Reilly's Bar for drinks...
...before walking up Dawson St looking for a suitable lunch venue and finding Café en Seine...
...with the best ever chicken, cheese and pesto toasties, with fries and rocket salad...
Then, a final walk back to the hotel...
The Spire for the final time...
An hour long bus journey took us back to the airport...
Security was fine but we emerged to find an hour long delay re our 45 minute flight home, due to the knock on effect of a glitch in Italian Air Traffic Control earlier today...
Of course, that was subsequently stretched and so, around 4 hours of just sitting and waiting...
After arriving at the airport at 4:45, we finally boarded at 9:10...
..and the flight went by in no time...
...with the added bonus of no passport control as we were entering the UK from Ireland (nope, no idea either why it can't just be like that for all arrivals)...
An airport bus and a 26 up the hill and the systems were back up and running by 11:40...
A few choice new items were downloaded re today's new releases...
...and to bed just after midnight...
Holiday over...
