To the PC first thing for some work...

As is becoming usual, Meg the Black cat helped out...

The Bidiniband and the new jazz CDs soundtracked today...

Stekpanna’s earlier discs are better than advised yesterday...

In the evening we met up with old chums Ken and Rose...

Last time we met with them was in June 2010 – sister Pam was alive and fine and all was well with the world...

We had plans for a Christmas night out in December that year but Pam’s diagnosis and my subsequent move to Hemel to look after her during the just post diagnosis and brain surgery stage of her illness put paid to that...

Since then of course life has been quite different whilst, on the surface it has been pretty much the same as it has been since I started keeping this diary just over 7 years ago...

The great thing about old chums is that, no matter how long it’s been since the last meeting, when you do finally see them again, it’s like it was just yesterday when you saw them last...

We met at Le Di Vin and enjoyed a couple of drinks and good chat – Ken is a big Glasgow Celtic fan and he and Anne were already involved in a discussion re the plight of Glasgow Rangers when I arrived...

The Rangers Tax Case blog is probably the best place to go for the real story of this sorry situation, cutting its way as it does through all the spin and conjecture in the mainstream media...

Upstairs to La Petit’ Folie for a scrumptious dinner and more drinks and more chat...

...followed by a walk along to Melville Street and a wee nightcap at Bert’s Bar before heading to Haymarket station to bid farewell...

They probably got home before we did...

So what’s this?

The beast was about its business at Haymarket...

Home by bus and off to bed after an enjoyable evening...

We will not leave it so long till the next time...

Highlight of the Day : Dinner with old chums...
