Up stupidly early with, I must say, rather a headache...

Pam was soon up too but she was fine...

She spent some time listening to the instrumental CBQ disc whilst reading the track notes - to be honest, I doubt she was very impressed...

She reckoned the other day that "Splinterheart" was a liitle to weird for her tastes...

Which is fair enough...

Last of the trio to rise was Annie...

Breakfast was enjoyed, as were the Temptations...

All too soon it was time for goodbyes...

I drove Pam to Waverley Station and ensured she caught her train at 1:30...

She left right on time (and, later, called to advise she'd arrived home safe and sound, with chum Lesley having picked her up at Hemel Hempstead Station)...

Back home, I sang through a few of the songs featured on the new compilation before John and Ali Impossible Songs arrived for drinks, chat and tea...

Next week, it'll be a year since their excellent wedding...

The Exec Producer executively produced a lovely tea comprising chilli prawns...

John took a pics too (which now feature on his own, cracking blog)...

Including my "art" mugs...

...and my own mug...

(note - I discovered these pics in 2014 and added them then)

...followed by Annie's signature Red Thai Chicken Curry and a new try-out dessert of Panacotta with Summer Fruits Compote...

All went down extremely well with the assembled eaters...

We chatted till around nine, including my story of how, for years, I compiled my own charts...

To prove it, here are my first three weeks' charts, starting 30 December 1972...

Hmm, for some reason I had two charts, each with 15 entries...

By the second week, I was up to a top thirty, although obviously I didn't feel it was necessary to note the performers...

The barrel was so thoroughly scraped that "Meet Up Here" was my thirteenth favourite song that week...

You should be advised that it was actually a flexi-disc of a song used in a Youngers beer advert!

Idiot...

As you can see, three weeks in I was starting to take a bit seriously...

Of course there is no such group as "Nuclear Fungus" - those tracks were by The Shadows - but me and my chums, the Forsyth Twins, pretended we were in a band and that said band was "Nuclear Fungus"...

Ah the folly of 13 year old boys...

The inclusion of so many B Sides indicates the small number of records I owned at the time but, as we well know, this has increased somewhat over the years...

With Ali and John safely on their way, we watched last night's "Dr Who" which, while it started off a bit naff, ended with a couple of good twists (for future reference, it was the pirate one)...

Lights out...

Highlight of the Day : good times with John and Ali Impossible...

S'funny seeing Crazy Horses on one of your lists; an ex and I used to do this craaaazy thing where we sang "Crazy Hamsters", but instead of following it with a 70's synth whine, we'd go, "Weeeeeeh, weeeeeeh" (more like the sound of guinea pigs really, unless you were to put your hamsters in a mangle or something). Crazy days. Maybe that's why she's an ex. And don't ask me about "Who Put The Owls Out", but it's similarly pretty poor!

Mr Impossible - thanks for the heads up re Sly - I knew I'd played another album pre Chicago and that it was "brassy" but couldn't remember when writing this up....

Then, on putting some CDs away upstairs, I came across a different Sly album and was reminded - was going to amend this morning...

Craig - "Crazy Hamsters" - I imagine the Guinea Pig noise was more short "Wee, wee, wee"'s than longer "weeee, weeee"'s - masters in a mangle?

Bad boy...

Yes, I can see why she's an ex...

Top quality confessional comment though LOL!
