More “Aftersilence” work first thing...
In the evening...
...after a long walk up a big hill...
I stopped by a certain music emporium looking for a recent recommendation from brother –in-law keith – which had not previously been partaken of due to the age of the recording (May 1953)...
However, taking the Keithmeister at his word, I duly bought The Quintet’s “Jazz at Massey Hall”...
Of course this is not just any old quintet – it’s:-
Dizzy Gillespie - Trumpet
Charlie Parker – Alto Sax
Bud Powell - Piano
Charlie Mingus - Bass
Max Roach – Drums
“Salt Peanuts” indeed!
Enjoyed said album with some tasty trout from the Exec Producer and a cheeky bottle of red...
Later on, the latest episode of “The Shadow Line” continued to entertain – as did the Thursday staple “This Week”...
Highlight of the Day : Good music, good food, good wine...

Hi David,
Got my package this morning. Nice surprise the extra EP included. I must say "Vendome" is an excellent song. Reminded me of Brendan Perry and No-Man. Quite haunting and sad, evoking a sense of time and place in the past. Well done. Now to "Aftersilence"!
Hi Barrie
Thanks for your kind words on Vendôme...
It was this inherent sadness in Ryan's chord sequence that brought me to work on his tune...
The words are all about evocation -so it seems they've worked...
Your comparison to NoMan is praise indeed!
Hope "Aftersilence" maintains the momentum...
Cheers!
