Today I was casting a long shadow as I walked down the road in the low morning sun...
To Fopp at lunchtime, past this impressive building on George Street, which has inadvertently become Edinburgh’s main thoroughfare, due to the roadworks for the Tram closing Princes Street for a year or so...
Nothing bought at Fopp, despite the usual ritual of wandering around with a few CDs in my hand, before putting them back...
In the inbox today, hot on the heels of yesterday’s review of OOTB No 330, came the review of last week’s OOTB 332...
“Cloudland Blue Quartet
CBQ’s gentle sound is yet another good change in the atmosphere. I think there has been some higher force organising the programme tonight, as every act seems to have made an impact.
CBQ’s soft sound floats around the room and into the distance after every phrase, creating a very mellow and relaxing feel.
'I’ll see you around, don’t worry about the money, I waved to the car as you drove off'”.
His deep thoughts linger in everyone’s minds as he sings them out nicely.
'Don’t answer the call'
CBQ maintains a subtle but consistent drive throughout his songs, as vibrato creeps through his voice.
'When he comes into the room, one thing that strikes me is the tune'
He definitely makes up for his gentle voice by turning out deep and passionate lyrics that leave everyone lost in thought.
'Play dead when you feel nothing at all'”
Very forgiving, considering the mess I seemed to make of my first two songs - mind you I did say I didn't think anyone noticed apart from me...
On the way home, I popped into HMV and, again, nothing bought, though I was sorely tempted by a 33CD box of Haydn’s complete Symphonies for an eye watering £50...
Less than £2 a disc though – amazing value really...
Caught these lovely trees on the way down to Crispycat Towers from the bus terminal...
And this was the view just before I turned into our street to the welcome aroma of the Exec Producer preparing Thai Fish cakes...
If you enlarge it, you can just see a star...
As is my wont, I spent most of the evening on the PC listening to various old tracks and Sid Smith’s latest Soft Machine-centric podcast, while moving stuff around between the hard drives and avoiding looking to see if Queen of the South were managing to hold on away at Dundee...
Yes!!!
3-2 to Queens!!
The day was rounded off with a taped "Law & Order" and a repeat of "The Big Bangf Theory"...
Highlight of the Day : Queen of the South win away from home - 7 games unbeaten...
