Music of the Day
King Crimson – A Young Person’s Guide to Crimson King
Be Bop Deluxe – Air Age Anthology
David Bowie – Aladdin Sane
Mott The Hoople – All the Young Dudes
Brian Eno – Another Green World
In 1997 I wrote and recorded an album of strange ambient weirdness called “Gold Leaf Deep Red”. The track titles were phrases taken from the entries for the dates in Brian Eno’s 1995 Diary “A Life With Swollen Appendices” on which the pieces were recorded. One piece was called “Strange, Overcast Day”....
Today was a Strange Overcast Day...
Like the past three days it promised to be hot and sunny. But the sun was never able to burn off the mist...
Today I watched more “Coronation Street”, an episode of “Law & Order” and, of course, The World Cup....
...with Germany getting off to a good start with 4-2 win over Costa Rica and Equador surprising the pundits by beating Poland 2-0. Of course, the pundits seem always to use the distant past to judge who should win a game. Equador beat both Brazil and Argentina in the South American qualifying group, while Poland qualified a pint behind England, which, as we all know, doesn’t really count for much....
A month of football ahead...
Late on I put together the backing tracks for my proposed live set for the summer and had a quick run through singing along with them...
It sounded “ok”...
Highlight of the Day : Start of the World Cup

"qualified a pint behind England"
It should really be a "half litre" (approx.) under the metric system.
I don't ask you how many cwt you weigh, do I? It's kilos these days...!
I'm off to the pub for a metre of ale.
Well done Jimbo - you win the prize. PM me to find out what it is...
