Five guitars..

Music of the Day
The Bad Plus – These Are The Vistas
Brad Mehldau Trio – Day Is Done
Esbjorn Svenssen Trio – From Gagarin’s Point Of View
Medeski Martin & Wood – End Of The World Party
Neal Morse – One

Listened mostly to the best of new jazz today – I have a couple more Bad Plus CDs in the pipeline now...

In the evening, after Saudi Arabia v Tunisia and the first half of Germany v Poland, James Jamieson came round to “lay down some tracks at Crispycat, man...”

He has the prospect of a gig at The Listening Room next month and wants Mr CBQ to play bass, so he brought round the acoustic bass we bought between us last October and which he’s had in his house ever since...

So I now have five guitars in the house...

I set up the equipment to record him and then retreated downstairs to watch the rest of the Germany game (whilst listening to the sound of James Jamieson coming through the ceiling!!)

Jamie played for around an hour and a half, recording some songs twice. The plan is for me to now record bass parts along with his guitar and vocals, press up a CD and pass this on to Mr Chris Brown who Jamie hopes will accompany us on Djembe on the as yet to be firmed up big night...

Germany won with a last gasp goal (but deservedly so)...

Once Jamie had finished, I played through a couple of songs and then we joined Anne downstairs to watch Question Time, with a quite scary and mental Derek Dougan (ex Wolves and N Ireland footballer) who seemed to mention his relationship with George Best in every answer he gave. He’s in the UK Independence Party these days...

Whilst watching, we drank some lovely coffee and ate some delightful Cadbury’s Fudge Fingers, which were apparently just enough to give Jaymee a treat – or so he sang...

Highlight of the Day : James Jamieson pops round to lay down some tracks...
