Up early – made breakfast before Anne went off to Lothian Cat Rescue for the morning....

Normally we’d be away on some European trip or other around this time, but this year we’ve decided to do some decorating instead. So I spent some time measuring and cutting all the lining paper we’d be hanging in the back room later today...

The latest edition of The Wire magazine arrived (no free CD this month) and I took a break to leaf through...

Sister in law Jane called with some sofa bed recommendations...

I ran through the proposed 10 song set for a gig at the end of the month....

Anne arrived back home just after 12 and, after lunch we set about the decorating...

We made a good team, with me cutting the paper as necessary (mostly I’d cut it already but we needed one more roll which Anne had brought home with her), pasting and doing the initial hanging, then Anne doing all the tricky work of ensuring everything was fitting together, round corners, window ledges, plugs, light switches etc...

By 6:30 we’d finished the whole room apart from one last strip in the corner by the window. But we’d run out of paper...

We watched the end of Ukraine v Saudi Arabia and then I went to Sainsbury’s for something for tea and to Homebase for more wallpaper...

Back home, we watched Spain v Tunisia...

...“Still Game” (a new series of this great show – no doubt a Monday night highlight for the next few weeks) and the new Steve Coogan vehicle “Saxondale” which was promising...

Then back to finish the last piece of decorating...

Ended the day tired but feeling as if we’d achieved something...

Highlight of the Day : Believe it or not, wallpapering – what a team!
