Gig day...

Nothing of any import apart from updating this (if that can be described as being "of import") achieved...

No podcast done...

Was not feeling at all well and had to have a bit of asleep in the early afternoon...

Then, moved from this...

...to this, in preparation...

The club was showing the cup final in the big hall we were to play so we were hoping for no extra time or penalties...

Car packed...

...and off we set, around 4:30, listening to the end of the game as we crossed town.  In the 89th minute a goal from Celtic against Scotland's newest club and so, the game ended at the expected time...

It was time for this to happen...

Drummer Johnny W advised he had Covid and an eye infection so, had he been in the band for today, he probably would have had to have pulled out...

Just after 5:30 the makeshift quartet of troubadours was able to commence the set up...

...while the "crowds" gathered for the best support act I've ever had - bingo!

Work continued...

By the time we were ready, the particularly difficult soundcheck lasted for only around 20 minutes before we had to call it a day and...

...just accept that we were "ready"...

...as the queue formed to purchase bingo cards...

First set commenced right on time at 8:30 and took us through to around 9:15...

Your correspondent on bass...

Post first set, some "discussions" with a committee member and, despite having been given no pointers as to what we ought to play, the opinion seemed to be we weren't quite "crowd pleasing" enough...

So, we moved our third set up to second and the dance floor was filled for the entire second set (9:45 to 10:30), for which I removed my hat, moved to guitar and Johnny Impossible moved to bass...

That did the trick...

By the time we started our third set, around 10:50, the older members of the audience had started to thin out but there was an influx of younger people who kept the dancing going throughout...

Here, chum Bernie gets a lady even older than him up on the floor...

We finished at midnight, fulfilling the brief we'd been given, which was to play to at least 11:45 to keep people at the club and using the bar for as long as possible...

All reports back now were positive so perhaps we'll be asked back...

Takedown ensued and Anne and I left around 12:30 for the drive home...

I was absolutely knackered, with the lurgi kicking in and so did not unload on arrival at Crispycat Towers...

Off to bed - a success in the bag...
