Last full day of the trip...

Up and listening to the two new upcoming LPs, having decided not to call the song-based one either "2210" or "4083" but, rather, after the title of the opening track, "Everything Ends"...

So there we go...

The sun was up...

To the machine...

The new cover created...

Ten new CBQ songs, to be released on Friday 7 June...

Coffee acquired - the view from the kitchen...

Later, breakfast...

...and then, out...

A wee beetle hitched a ride on the side of the car for a while - I eventually stopped and took it off and put it in the undergrowth - hopefully, it's ok, if a little bit far from home...

Our target this morning was the Pontcysyllte Aqueduct...

We arrived at the car park, paid our £3 and off we went...

...soon finding a canal...

..which we followed...

...going under a bridge on the towpath...

...to the "canal junction"...

...where a man in a good rubber suit was clearing algae...

...and then, post the "hand"...

...there it was...

Spectacular...

It afforded very good views...

...and picture opportunities...

OK, some not quite so good...

The view from the other end...

...where barges were backed up, waiting for the tourist boats and canoes to come over from our arrival point...

We headed back, it was easier for us to cross on foot than the poor souls waiting for a window of opportunity to get their barges over...

We took a path through the woods to get different views of the structure...

...and then, down to the river...

...for more...

..and back up...

After paying £32 for our visit to the castle yesterday, I suggested the £100 fee to join the National Trust for Scotland (which allows access the National Trust attractions across the UK) might be money well spent...

We'll see...

A very enjoyable visit was rounded off with ice cream from the information office...

Back to the car park...

...and a drive along the Dee Valley to Llangollen - where my dad sang in the Eisteddfod back in 1968 or so...

A picturesque town indeed - plenty of visitors on coach trips were enjoying it too...

The weather, so great this morning, looked now to be turning...

...but we were on holiday and did not care too much...

A church was visited, as we do...

...and, in a charity shop, some previously unheard Haydn was acquired for a quid...

Lunch...

...was lamb and mint "Oggies"...

Back to the car and we drove on along the Dee Valley, to Corwen...

As we arrived, a downpour started, which was to last for the rest of the day...

The views...

The first Prince of Wales...

...and his story, were recorded...

Coffees and cakes were enjoyed under a canopy protecting us from the driving rain...

...but not the cigarette smoke from our fellow cafe attendees...

Did I mention it was pouring?

Back to the car, via the railway station...

...and home...

As we climbed the stairs, we were afforded a tantalizing view of the main house...

In the early evening, to the games room...

Snooker...

There were so many foul shots we decided only to count points gained from actually potting the balls...

It all came down to my finally potting the black - prior to that, the scores were even, if pathetically low - highest break was, if I recall correctly, 4...

With the table reset for the next visitor, I found a few more random records to download tomorrow for posterity...

Then, darts...

One game only - first to 301 but must finish on a double...

Anne won with a double one...

Top Darts!

Then, with the rain easing slightly, out for our final tea in that Wrexham...

We got a bit lost trying to find a parking spot...

Eventually we parked at I Jazz (but Anne was not up for another Indian) and walked to our chosen restaurant - past a whole load of shops we didn't realise existed, the discovery of which was too late...

This evening, we were at the Safar Bistro Grill and it proved tasty...

Big kebab grill for Anne and Spaghetti Bolognese for me...

Home around 9...

...for another "missed the first murder" "Midsomer Murders"...

...and, then, bed...

Holiday almost over...

...after another good day (despite the rain)...

Highlight of the Day : The aqueduct...
