Khan + Walker - Schleichfahrt
Good, albeit, treated, skies this morning...
The house awaited...
...as did the machines...
The two James Jamieson LPs sent out into the world - happy birthday Jamie!
Last minute packing away of equipment and, then, into the car...
Soundtracked for the entire journey by the collections of annual "things I think Anne would like", we were off to that Wales...
At 10, toasted teacakes and lovely coffee in Biggar...
...and, at 12:20, a break in Kendal...
We've only ever stopped here briefly, as was the case today but, perhaps we'll make a longer stay on the way home....
Around 3:25, our destination was reached...
The views from the office this afternoon...
Unpacked, we were off out...
...but, first, some exploration...
Original art adorns the walls...
The old kitchen - not used since World War II...
...apart from celebrity cooks, the Hairy Bikers...
This map will be handy...
To the games room...
Vinyl collection, books, DVDs...
...a piano, snooker table...
Chess...
Nice old room...
Out...
By this time, it was pouring...
Into Wrexham and parked for a wander...
We took refuge from the rain in The Midland, where we discovered Wrexham Lager...
On the walls, signed guitars - no-one knew who had signed this and the plaque was illegible...
This, Pink...
Prince...
Taylor Swift...
Paul Simon....
Also on the walls, signed shirts of Pele, Maradona, Zidane and Messi...
Impressive...
We located an Indian restaurant for tea...
Heading towards it we passed the Wrexham brewery...
On arriving at Anise, we found it still 30 minutes from its opening time so decided to take a further walk...
...and then, I spotted this...
...we made our way round to investigate, past the tall chimney of the Nag's Head pub...
...to Black Peppers...
Anne was delighted...
...but demanded a retake...
The food was delicious - Chicken Chatt...
Veg Pakora...
Lamb Dansak...
Chicken Bhuna...
Peshwari Naan...
Pilau Rice...
...and complimentary Baileys...
Yum...
Walk back to the car, passing St Giles...
A stop, in the rain, at Lidl for provisions...
...and "home"...
This evening, while Anne relaxed, I went to the games room and recorded some piano...
...and played a solo game of snooker, taking some 27 minutes to pot all the balls...
Due to the occasional snookering of myself...
My last shot managed to done both the Black and the cue ball...
A good ending - the game recorded for posterity...
Back to the piano for a second improvised piece...
Then, Anne joined me and we played a record, chosen at random...
Khan + Walker...
"Schleichfahrt"...
The scene...
Back to the apartment for further relaxation...
Laptop booted up and some work done, including locating and downloading the record we'd been playing...
...which accompanied me to bed...
A good day...
Highlight of the Day : On holiday...
