Up and out early, leaving the EP sleeping...

Rain...

Pouring rain...

I walked around for 90 minutes in it...

Going slightly further afield than we had done last night, fully into Place St Pierre...

...where art was on display...

There was supposed to be a good bakery on Rue du Pas Saint Georges but I couldn't find it - I ended up at Rue Saint James and the Saint Eloi Church with its impressive clock tower...

Bumped into this wee blury monkey trying to avoid the pouring rain...

Made my way down Cours Victor Hugo towards the river...

...and found this breakfast provision alternative...

...and made my way home...

...via Carre Fours in Place du Palais, where juice, butter and milk were also acquired...

The rain put paid to our plans to breakfast on the balcony...

...and the forecast for the day did not look promising...

The apartment was cosy though...

After breakfast the rain eased off a little...

...so we ventured out...

Down to the riverside, where this ship (not sure if it was a replica) used by Magellan in his exploratory voyages was visiting...

We walked along the bank...

...going much further than we had last night...

The market looked good but nothing was partaken of...

..., not even any radishes...

We stumbled across and interesting design shop, "Espace" - but their items were a little too large to bring home...

A walk then along Rue Notre Dame...

...to the CAPC, Bordeaux's contemporary art museum....

The main exhibition was of works by Alejandro Jodorowsky...

Meanwhile, this installation/film by Khvay Samnang, featured a man pouring liquid rubber over himself in various parts of a plantation...

There were some book related exhibits...

Anne was suitably impressed...

There were the usual scenes of two people watching video screens...

Upstairs for a different view...

...but it didn't really make the Jodorowsky any more interesting...

Architecture in Africa was also on show...

But probably the best feature was the building itself, a former commodities warehouse...

An exhibition on the designs of Andrée Putman, created specifically for the space, was good

...while her work for Concorde also impressed...

Meanwhile, out on the roof...

...two pieces by Richard Long...

"White Rock Line"...

...and "Ligne d'Ardoise"...

All things considered, this was probably my favourite thing in the gallery - and I'm not even sure if it was an exhibit!

A look round the shop and explanatory presentation...

I restrained myself from a souvenir purchase...

Out into a now dry afternoon...

Through the nearby Place des Quinconces...

...and past the Opera House...

...and the Grand Hotel...

Just across from the Opera House was this statue, which I think may be a temporary piece...

Interesting...

We walked back to the apartment for some relaxing and reading...

Rather pretentiously, I'd brought this with me...

There is, coincidentally, some discussion included on the works of Richard Long...

..waiting for the rain to stop again...

When it finally did, we walked to the district of St Michel...

...and, on the way back stopped off at this bookshop....

...where this little beauty was picked up for just 10 of your European Euros...

Before heading home...

...we also stopped off at a beer specialist and picked up...

...a couple of bottles to enjoy on the balcony...

...along with the rest of this morning's bread...

My beer was so good...

...it knocked my specs off...

Music was provided by our makeshift hi-fi of an iPhone in a flowerpot...

Then we watched Scotland v Australia in the Rugby World Cup - the Scots played well and seemed to have been robbed at the very end by a dodgy ref's decision...

That's what it's like for Scotland teams though - and Queen of the South - and anyone else I support...

In the evening, we ventured out again...

...and walked to Rue St Remi for a cheeky wee Indian...

...before walking back down to the Bourse to enjoy the spectacle provided by le Miroir d'Eau...

Finally, returning once more to our temporary home, we were greeted by a wee beastie on the stairs...

To bed, after a long but enjoyable day...
