Matthew Florianz - Nocturne
Up early and working - firstly on rhythm tracks for what may become a new CBQ song album - if I actually write any songs - and then a quick-fire recording of simple acoustic versions of the 16 Eno songs started yesterday - purely for reference purposes...
Meanwhile, in the back garden, Rory Custard was stalking squirrels - and failing - 'mon the squirrels...
Out around midday and a walk down the hill to the bus - spotting this wee singing beastie on the way...
Alighting at the West End, we walked down to Stockbridge, noting some excellent leaves on the way...
I do like a leaf...
We arrived 10 minutes early, so took a look in the nearby Shelter shop - always an excellent selection of classical discs - I picked this up - would like to see the film too...
To the Raeburn Hotel for the family "do" re Jane's 50th...
I don't recall why now but Kitty and I were practising our "disappointed" faces - she lamented...
Fun was had...
Drinks first in the faux-library...
...and then in for a lovely meal...
...with a speech from Jane, to pre-empt anyone else...
The wine was a flowing...
...and my vegetarian fish (fed exclusively on seaweed) were both declared tip top...
The two grannies spent some time nattering - about granny stuff no doubt...
And the Exec Producer looked mischievously lovely...
The three hour proceedings were rounded off with some coffee...
..before taxis back to Jane and Bobby's...
...for surprise cake...
Selfies with first cousins-once-removed were undertaken...
Your correspondent may well have partaken of a smidgeon too much red wine over the piece...
Kitty portrayed her younger self rather well...
An excellent day all round - although I ought to have had some Seekers in the playlist apparently...
"The Carnival is Over" is one of Jane's faves but, unlike her actual birthday number one, "Tears" by Ken Dodd, it was number one a few weeks after she was born and the rules of the playlist clearly stated - only one track per year...
All in all though, she was quite happy...
To the bus around 9:15, though it seemed a lot later...

I don't recall why now but Kitty and I were practising our "disappointed" faces - she lamented...
...that she could not quite "upside-down" her mouth as well as her old uncle...
Fun was had...
...as well as some "21st Century normal teenage behaviour"

Olly was next to his mum...
There was good chat all around the table - with Jane's bestie Rhona and her boyfriend Bobby the only non-family attendees...
The three hour proceedings were rounded off with some coffee...
..before taxis back to Jane and Bobby's...
...for surprise cake...
Olly was in charge of portions...
Selfies with first cousins-once-removed were undertaken...
An enjoyable afternoon and early evening, soundtracked by Jane's October Hits playlist...
Your correspondent may well have partaken of a smidgeon too much red wine over the piece...
...which may go some way to explaining the "alternative" nature of much of the photography on display her...
Kitty portrayed her younger self rather well...
...and Jane got a rather large tray...
Of course, Kitty managed to photo-bomb this family portrait...
She demanded a photo shoot of her own - these the best takes of, frankly, far too many...
An excellent day all round - although I ought to have had some Seekers in the playlist apparently...

Back home, very much indeed the worse for wear and surprised to find I had taken around 200 photos of the day...
By the quality on display above, you can imagine how bad those not featured are...
Lights out...
Highlight of the day : Jane's birthday party...
