Out for provisions...

These would do for a couple of days...

Breakfast on the balcony again...

Our target today was St Emilion...

A tram to Gare St Jean...

Arriving at 10:40...

...we found our train did not depart till just after 12...

...so, after checking out the station - which was festooned with scaffolding...

...we had a look around environs...

...and used our hour long tram journey ticket to cross to the other side of the tracks...

..another voluntary library was spotted...

...and back to the station...

...and waitng...

When the platform was announced, I helped the little old lady in the picture by taking her case to it...

Underway...

40 minutes later, we arrived....

It was a further 20 minute walk or so to the town itself...

We spotted that for which the commune is famous...

A quite beautiful little place...

We took in the sites...

Almost every establishment is wine related...

We visited the monastery and church which overlooks the town...

We made our way down to the main square...

...for lunch...

Some kids were playing "statues"...

Yum...

...then, took a walk further afield...

...and discovered a tour of the various "chateaux" around St Emilion where the wine is produced...

A very enjoyable 40 minutes or so...

Back into the town...

...for a coffee...

...before searching out the final sites we'd not yet seen...

We left after around 5 hours of wandering around, eating and enjoying wine and coffee...

Quite relaxing all told...

We walked back to the station...

This was acquired as a tiny souvenir...

Our train back was not this salubrious beast...

...rather, this old crock...

But it got us there...

Home for a rest and then, out for dinner around 8:30...

...to nearby Luna Pizza, which we'd spotted as we walked back from the tram...

The decor made it look like a work in progress but it's been in operation for 10 years...

Lovely pizzas...

A walk up Victor Hugo past the illuminated gate...

...spotting the wee chum from Sunday on the way...

Down via St Eloi...

...and slowly home...

An excellent day...

Highlight of the Day : St Emilion...
