Visits, box sets, filing, compilations and the ends of eras...

Up at a time that doesn't look too early re the views from the office...

But...

...it was...

..not even 6 o'clock yet...

...in the middle of the week...

Diary written and various other things sported out, while playing some records I bought when I was 21...

Seems like yesterday, kind of...

But, now, almost 45 years ago...

Anyway, yesterday, neighbour Pietro advised "stuff" had come down his chimney, putting dust and soot over all his living room contents...

He was blaming the two magpies who hop around here all day - but surely they couldn't get into the space in the mesh on Pietro's chimney, the rear of these two?

Anne to Zumba and me to Penicuik for a meet up with Stu Cobley - recently loved up and enjoying life...

Passed on a few doublers to him re inadvertent purchases of CDs I already had - although it turns out he too already has the Daniel Lanois disc...

Coffee/Bacon Roll / Earl Grey/Carrot Cake at CafeMosso and then a walk along to the town centre and a couple of things found in the Oxfam shop...

My right heel developed a blister re my new black boots, being worn today for only the second time...

Godammit...

My reasonably new brown boots cause pain in my smallest toe on my left foot...

I very seldom have acquired shoes which do not cause pain...

Just before 12, heading home...

On the bypass, a call from the Estate Agent, success re the sale of my mum's house - exactly 27 weeks to the day, since she died...

Of course not all done and dusted until it's done and dusted but, you know...

Ripping and listening to the two new things...

A discussion on Blue Sky with chum Nick Worral, who is looking for tip top production work in the 1970's and had advised he was including "Time/The Great Gig in the Sky" from DSOTM as one of his tracks...

I pointed out that, if anything it should be "Time/Breath(reprise)" (even though the latter is not in the tracklisting in the inner gatefold) as there's a gap between "Time" and "The Great Gig"...

In fact, there isn't...

But I argued that a cross fade between tracks is hardly "production wizardry" - especially as he was looking to include "Sgt Pepper (reprise)/A Day in the Life)"...

So, you know, I won...

Anyway, post lunch and with Anne off to see her mum, some filing took place, soundtracked by this, which Pachelbel and Bach had pushed off the living room shelf...

I integrated recent compilation acquisitions, taking care to leave a space in almost every section to ease any upcoming required filing re further acquisitions...

Then, I sorted out the "recently moved to the side section as they are small enough to fit in there" classical boxes...

In all, 588 Box sets (ok including some single disc things but with packaging which won't fit into the main body of the collection)...

In Glasgow, nephew Olly was starting his first job of his post University career, for the SFA at Hampden Park...

They have given him some new togs...

Go the boy!

This evening a house sale outcome celebratory Chinese Takeaway and some red wine - which I discovered later I ought not to have drunk as I'm having some blood taken tomorrow afternoon...

On telly, three episodes of Michael Portillo in Switzerland re his "Great Continental Railway Journeys" - we love that show - in fact, thanks to one watched the other day, there is a plan afoot to perhaps visit Norway for the first time...

Also this evening working out some tax numbers and some gathering in of more unrequired new music re Branford Marsalis, by whom I owned nothing before, a Keith Jarret Quartet LP from 1972 which Marsalis's quartet is about to issue a cover version of, plus catching up on recent releases by Reichenhall...

To bed at midnight...

Highlight of the Day : Visit to Coblers and Childhood Home away...
