Up and the machines awaited...

A nice day looked to be ahead, weather-wise...

Machines fired up...

...and some work done on "Strand", replacing field recordings with Short Wave Radio...

Scenes...

Relaxing breakfast...

...before heading out to my mum's around 10:30 to get her ready for an outing...

..to the Loanhead Children's Gala Day...

One of her favourite things (to which she's not been for decades probably) because, sister Pam was a train-bearer at the age of around 6 and Queen at 12, in 1975...

Mum enjoyed the various brass and pipe bands as they marched past...

...and there were also representatives of the miners around whom the community was originally founded...

Little children marched too for Children's Day...

...and I played football for this team's predecessors, Eskdale Boys Club, also in sky blue strips...

A couple of name  son the banner of Loanhead's famous footballers were guys I played alongside as a boy - with my dad on the touchline shouting at me to get up off my backside...

Eventually the participants in the "show arrived...

...including the about to be crowned Queen...

...and the current Queen...

Found a spot for kind of the best view I could get for my mum...

...and she witnessed up close the laying of the wreath by the new Queen at the mining memorial for those who lost their lives underground...

Then, a walk up the main road to the Memorial Park for a look around all the stalls, displays etc...

A Reilly in front of...

...a Riley...

The car was just a couple of years younger than my mum...

Extortionately priced burgers were attempted...

...before I discovered that, contrary to mum's as usual pessimistic opinion, we could indeed gain access to the church hall (where we could have enjoyed lovely home made filled rolls at a quarter of the price of the burgers) and enjoyed a mini afternoon tea and chat from people who had not seen her for quite a long time...

Back out onto the street as the parade passed by...

It all brought back good memories for mum...

And then, home and back into position...

Home...

Later on, out to pick up a Chinese Takeaway...

Crispy's mouse...

...helps us to park in the garage...

Post the final "Dr Who" - the usual ridiculously easy get out of the dilemma scenario but, reasonable...

Good new music soundtracked football...

...before it being time for bed...

A good day for a very old lady...

Highlight of the Day : The Gala Day...

That's a proper feel good post, must've meant a lot to your mum to be there and see the gala parade. Well done.
