Up early and stumbled across some interesting sounds...
...and so another new project, "Strand", commenced...
Also, of course, as it as Friday, added a few choice items to the collection...
First few experiments underway as Anne left for a day of shopping, lunching and glass of wine enjoying in that Livingston, with Lynn...
After "finishing" "Strand" (it's not finished), I put together this week's podcast, on time...
My long list comprised 59 tracks, around 3.5 hours of music...
Instead of my usual whittle, I just put everything in...
Done, dusted, up...
Downstairs for lunch and enjoyed two episodes of "Better Than Us", the Russian Robot thing...
Later on, some more work on "Strand" and a visit from Fang, first since Luna's departure...
Dreamies...
..and scent detection...
...before he headed on his way...
A baked bean omelet for tea...
Hmmm - reasonably tasty...
Anne arrived back in time for Netherands v France, a nil nil draw, each team cancelling out the other by both being so good...
The Dutch had a goal chopped off - all the BBC pundits thought it was a goal...
It wasn't...
Why is it none of the pundits knows the rules of the game?
It all came down to the nuances of the offside law and whether a player in an offside position is interfering with an opponent...
The Dutchman, Simons, struck a first-time shot which arrowed into the bottom right-hand corner of the goal. All good so far...
However, Denzel Dumfries, the Dutch defender, who was up for the attack. was in an offside position between French goalkeeper Mike Maignan and the path of the ball...
Would Maignan have saved the shot?
That's irrelevant...
There's no decision required about a keeper's ability..
The question was whether Dumfries had an impact on Maignan, and whether that affected Maignan's decision not to make a dive to attempt the save....
In short, would the keeper have had to have dived "through" Dumfries to get to the ball?
Answer? Yes...
And so, it was quite an easy call for the referee to (correctly) to rule out the goal...
The real controversy and the thing which threw the so called pundits, was why it took VAR almost 3 minutes to support the on-field decision...
It should have been a quick check, which would have made it clear the on-field call was indeed correct...
If the referee had ALLOWED the goal, only then should there have been a lengthy VAR check, as the interference is a subjective call - although, in this case, it was perfectly clear...
Ex-Players are hopeless when it comes to analysing situations like this - which is why there should always be a referee on the panel...
Anyway...
That was about it - 2 excellent new jazz LPs soundtracked the footie for me...
"Rebus" concluded, rather unsatisfactorily - of course they are angling for a second series - some of he acting was beyond belief terrible - Shetland-esque almost...
Friday over...
To bed with "Strand"...
Tomorrow, this with my old mum...
Highlight of the Day : Another new thing...
Today's New Music:-
