A day without mum duties (apart from one small thing), so, we decided we were going to enjoy our "freedom"...

Up and putting together a potential three set song list for the 25 May gig...

Post breakfast, with Anne off to do an errand re her mum's watch, I got the bass back out of the attic and set up the gear for a run through the proposed set, playing along to the Leith Dockers tapes, with some songs out and running order rearranged...

Around 50% played by Anne's return, at which point, it was into the car for a drive to North Berwick...

Found a nice spot to park...

...and walked along by the water into the town...

...past where my Dad and sister Pam were bidden farewell to in 2003 and 2012...

We were on the look out for a nice coffee place...

With the offerings in the main street all packed, I recalled Steam Punk from a long past previous visit...

We liked it here...

The beast was on a day off...

More walking...

...to the putting green...

...below the tennis courts where my parents would play when here on holiday pre me...

Near misses annoyed Anne..

But then...

A hole in one...

Most enjoyable...

Close to a hole in one for me too...

We almost thought we might actually take up golf...

In the end there was only one shot between us...

Yes indeed, most enjoyable...

While we played, a message from Paul - he can play the 25th of May...

Quartet time...

More walking, noting Puffin's Retreat...

..and, in the wee "junk" shop, this reminded me of gone too soon chum Spike...

"Spike is grrreat - he's my mate" indeed...

Popped back to Steam Punk, as I'd forgotten to take a look in the weekend only record shop upstairs...

Meanwhile, Anne was enjoying the ruined church over the road...

...while I exited, without having partaken of anything and pictured the Steam Punk van...

...and a seagull against the blue, blue sky...

Found some CDs in the BHF shop (see below) and, in another shop, rather a lot of mum's fave author...

...and some other junk I liked...

Back to the car, having avoided food intake, on the basis we would now drive to Gifford for a slap up late lunch/early tea at the Goblin Ha'...

Good to find the car was where we'd left it...

25 minute drive to Gifford - only to find the Ha' is being renovated and the only other place in the village had a closed kitchen due to staff shortages...

Bloody Brexit...

Driving home, checking the scores - a good win for Queens - safe in the division below where they probably ought to be but they just were not good enough this season...

We called in an order to Eastern Pavilion as soon as they opened at four...

And I popped in to wait when we arrived back at Corstorphine at 4:15...

Back home with superb pakoras...

...and tasty curries...

After this, I returned to the bass...

...and finished off the set...

...followed by ripping and listening re the CDs acquired for a total of £2.50...

...and a "Monk" or two...

A very good day...

Highlight of the Day : Playing the bass again...
