An accidental carnival...

Playlist
Charpentier - Various Works
Fred Again & Eno - Secret Life

Up just after eight but no shopping today...

Wrote up yesterday‘s notes...

An hour later breakfast...

...and out just before 10 to the bus stop...

The service was curtailed but we did not know why...

We walked onto the cathedral...

...and find out from some people, cordoning off things, that today was carnival day but, for now, that wasn’t our target...

We walked on past the Prefecture and Erdre lake to the daily market at Talensac...

The first stall was a record man but no CDs...

€50 for an old Neil Young record? Nah, you’re okay...

Anne noted a nice cardigan but €55 was out with budget...

Wonderful fruit, vegetable, bakery, fish, meat, and other food related stalls...

It took around 30 minutes to go round them all...

No purchases but we may return ...

Took a seat at the Café Parisien where the service lived up to its name...

I noticed a concert that will happen as we fly home - oh well...

Eventually we both had coffees and, given we both partook of the facilities, at 2:40 a pop it was not bad despite the service levels...

A walk back to the cathedral and on down to the castle and a look around at the various impressive buildings...

Then, a walk around the ramparts...

Further possible Disquietmusik VII covers taken...

45 minutes into our visit, we entered the Museum which is set across 8 floors and gives the history of the castle and its inhabitants across the centuries, including Anne of Brittany...

Here is her heart...

Very interesting information on the slave trade too - many of the ships were built at Nantes...

After a 90 minute castle tour it was time for lunch...

...and we found some Turkish tacos nearby...

...then, back into the castle and a walk round the moat, including turtles, ducks and fish...

Out and walked back to the cathedral for the start of the carnival parade at 2:30...

An hour or so spent in the baking sun getting my head burned, watching the performers and floats go by...

Then we walked down to the Botanic Gardens for a beer and more turtles and announcements about lost children...

Further walking took us to the newly revamped train station, while Anne monitored the V.A.R. referee cheating for Celtic against Hearts...

We enjoyed a mini Mars Bar and the architecture...

A walk around another waterway took us to the L.U. complex...

No art seen...

...but a Charpentier CD acquired for €4...

Found ourselves in the same street as on Friday afternoon and I noted a nice cat...

Once again, back at the cathedral, with the parade now done and dusted...

We stopped off in a nearby Joffre for a beer...

...before deciding to eat at home tonight due to the buses still not running fully...

Provisions from Casino...

Tortilla, coleslaw, bread, cheese and chocolate eclairs were the order of the day...

A visit from one of the cats...

And an evening of music listening and crossword puzzling brought day three to an end...

Highlight of the Day : The castle...
