A three and a half hour drive can take eight and a half hours...

Playlist
Various - The "Good Songs" Playlist on Shuffle
Various - Cloudland Blue Eclectic Selection 2022 Vol 50
Monteverdi - Second Vespers
Herbie Hancock Quintet - A Tribute to Miles

Up quite late but I'd written up yesterday's entry before retiring, so it was just a question of posting it and taking down and packing the machines for travel...

A small breakfast at home, of toast and coffee, before we set off...

Goodbye apartment...

Goodbye Alston...

We left at 9:30 and, 45 minutes later, it was hello Hexham...

..wit its Old Gaol...

...and its Abbey...

It turned out to be a lovely small town...

Into the Abbey for a look around, with organ music accompanying our visit...

This, the organist - we have no idea where she was in the Abbey, this is a pic of a TV screen, showing her in action...

Enjoyed an exhibition re the Abbey's history...

Out...

An episode of "Vera", one of our fave detective shows, was being filmed in the market square, in front of the Abbey, this week...

We saw her car in situ...

...and a scene where a man carrying a cup of coffee (with nothing in it of course - why don't they fill this type of prop with water to get it took look like characters are actually carrying a drink in their cardboard cup?) walked towards the Land Rover...

Meanwhile, coffee and cake at the Rising (From the Ruins) Café (turns out they have outlets too in Birmingham and Lincoln)...

Pre coffee having arrived shot...

Then, a walk through the Abbey grounds...

...before a further walk back to the car and onwards, Northwards...

Next stop was Falstone...

...for a tasty lunch...

...before driving on around the Kielder Water....

...and, via Hawick and Selkirk, to Peebles....

...for an ice-cream stop...

...before the final hour of the journey, including traffic jams on the Edinburgh Bypass...

Home at 6pm...

Unpacked and all set up and sorting out the new music acquired over the last few days...

In the evening, "Black Ops" and "Colin From Accounts" continued to entertain...

Highlight of the Day : Hexham...
